Alpine A310 Concept: The Electric Sports Car We’ve Been Waiting For?

Alpine is restoring a famous name– but the brand-new A310 Concept is an extremely different beast from the initial rear-engined, V6-powered sports car. So what happens when you take Alpine's light-weight, driver-focused approach and integrate it with an all-electric future?

In this walkaround, we take a closer look at the Alpine A310 Concept and explore the believing behind it. At its heart is Alpine's new Alpine Efficiency Platform (APP), a set of foundation created to underpin a brand-new generation of electrical performance vehicles

We're talking twin-motor torque vectoring, 800-volt ultra-fast charging and a severe concentrate on keeping weight down. The very same platform will assist shape the next-generation Alpine A110 and the magnificent Renault 5 Turbo 3E. And with this versatile architecture, Alpine might potentially develop anything from two-seat cars to 2 +2 coupés and convertibles.

However can Alpine make electrical cars and trucks that provide the same magic as its petrol-powered predecessors?

The initial A310 evolved from a slightly underwhelming four-cylinder sports car into a proper efficiency competitor with a 2.6-litre V6. Its rear-mounted engine, fibreglass body and lightweight building and construction provided it a character all of its own– even if its handling might keep drivers on their toes.

Now, Alpine is seeking to carry that spirit into the electrical age. And if this concept is anything to go by, the future might be very intriguing certainly.
Is Alpine right to go all-electric, or should it keep developing petrol-powered cars? Let us know in the remarks!

I really hope they build this. We need cars like this to counteract the same old same old SUV.

… And the wide fenders, spoilers and skirts are inspired by the Group 4 /”Pack GT” version.

Looks beautiful. There’s a lot of BB512 in the lines, too.

Am I the only one thinking this is the most gorgeous Alpine design ever made? 🤯🫶 WAUW!! I am SO fatigued by the somewhat boring A110, and this, with all the aero, clean lines, clear 70’s vibes, little scrimp inside the side winglet 🦐, and those drop-dead-gorgeous wheels as well!!! Damn Alpine… I agree so much! You would be stupid not to make this one!! 🤯🤩🤯🤩🤯🤩

Again, Renault’s design department are smashing it recently. It somehow looks better than the V6 A310 or even the GTA/A610, maybe even topping the A110 and its revival.

I remember when I was 10 years old in 1998. I sketched out what a futuristic car from the 2020s would look like, and it was *very* similar to this, even the headlights. The only difference was that mine had solar panels because I naively assumed that it could be recharged while driving, but I did correctly assume it would be electric.

On design, I’d say that Renault/Alpine has arguably become the most desirable European car brand??
Certainly BMW should be looking and learning…
