The benefit of a batterylanger than you need, you can do small solar exc ess charging over the week and walk it down over the week and charge it up on the weekend

I find there is an inverse ratio between battery/distance and age/bladder capacity 😂

Just driven the ID Polo – it is very good. Will buy this or e-Megane or R5 next year.

The ID Polo is the best in its class. But: Keep an eye on the Peugeot e-208, the upcoming new generation will get a massive overhaul and will take the crown for range and charging speed in this class, even if they are all not too far apart from each other

Love the channel! One of my neighbours has had their I.D7 tourer for a little over 3 months now,and it looks really good in black. When talking to them about it they are definitely in Vicky’s camp they are in love with it and have only positive things to say about it and the comfort of it’s drive.

I was reading about the foot spa earlier this week, I believe it’s for the back passengers only, as the foot spa is stored under the two front seats and comes from under them to be used by the rear passengers.

Definitely. I can’t see how a non-contortionist could remove their shoes and socks comfortably while sitting in the front seats, with that huge central console.

Opel/Vauxhall … some design elements (like the rear light bar in the Grandland) were made to have an OPEL logo, and the VAUXHALL lettering looks like the sign of bingo hall in Luton. They’re ok cars in their price range, they have that image on the Continent, they’ll still be able to get the same success while making some savings from the brand rationalisation.

For years the Polo has been closer to the original golf I-IV so the id.polo is the bigger deal, opening a new segment. The id3 still is a default but slighly expensive e.v..
The Üroblem is the ID golf has be be ready for the start of the ev adoption phase phase of the mainstream car buyer

With the rise of no shoes studios, I see the need for a corporate sock dress cose, e.g. Electrifying anti-slip socks

Excellent podcast as always team. The VW news almost begs the question, VW went on a re-naming of the whole line-up when they showed the ID.Polo and ID.Cross, so why didn’t they simply rename the ID.3 to the ID.Golf? After all, the ID.3 (car and name) will likely be pensioned off when the ID.Golf is eventually released anyway.

    Keep up the great work!

I have an Ioniq 5 AWD in the USA. I am ready for a break at about 200 miles. I can charge from 20-80% in about the time it takes to hit the loo, grab a coffee and snack. It’s plenty. I own a Renault 4 in Italy. We go from Siena to the north side of Rome, where we charge whilst we eat lunch about 10 minutes from the apartment of our family. Again, it’s perfect. I don’t need 500 miles of range.

Totally understand Batch’s slow charging frustration. When I moved to my house it had a charger already installed but only 3.6. To upgrade would mean a lot of re-wiring and £1500+ cost to upgrade . Took 3 night tp charge after a long journey. But I am only paying 6.6p so its a small price to pay.

Think of the money that VW could save if they did fewer blimmin’ launches of each new car! It feels like they’re heading towards separate embargoes for the reveal of each wheel – that’s a lot of fancy launches to ferry people to and from, and feed them in the meantime

Big shout out for AW Energy’s public DC rapid charging site on the A5 near Leighton Buzzard, where the rate is just 39p/kWh! Not only is it low, but they intentionally put it on the site’s public sign in bold lettering. It’s almost impossible for them to change, and that was totally intentional.

Arnold White Group from which the AW comes are an aggregates company with active quarries, but who go to great lengths to return them to nature when they are retired. The site is awe inspiring with 2 wind turbines feeding into the grid, and they cost the grid connection as part of the electricity export business, which helps massively with keeping charging costs low. Selling the electricity they generate onsite is a built-in part of the business model.

Despite being next to the A5 it’s a surprisingly serene site, and I loved every minute I was there. I wish the company great success – they understand the future direction and have embraced it.

For the foot spa the pedals could move to hand controls like some motability adaptations. 😂

On the subject of using your home tariff for ac charging, I am a retired software designer for the electricity industry and I can’t see the problem, I bet you any money that Octopus could do this easily through electroverse. They have you name address and customer number along with the units used on the charging session, any data analyst will tell you the job is already half done, I think the problem is not that it is hard to do but that the old incumbents are so slow and out of date compared to Kraken powered utilities that they are holding their heads in their hands because they are on their way to extinction through lack of investment in Kraken style tech. many of them hitching themselves to SAP which is why they are unable to change things and compete.

VWID7 had haloween themed start up colours and creepy noises on the infotainment screen. There is a Christmas themed one, an Easter one and beach balls bouncing around the in summer. More visual nuggets than sounds !
