I have been running the Alpine A290 GTS+ as my long termer for the last 6 months. Sadly it goes back next this week so it's time for my end of term report. I even get Mrs G on cam and ask the bug concern … would we purchase one!

Once you get an EV and use the public charging network, you realise its better than you might have thought, and range anxiety subsides.

I totally agree. Have a look at my reply to the guy who says he’s an anti EV guy in the comments.

It’s improved massively in the last few years.
I’m no longer worried about range for my next EV when I can charge 200 miles in twenty minutes.

Though the new BMW with 500 mile range is very tempting!

I like a long term test, better ‘real world’ review than a 2 hour press launch drive.
Remember how the wonderful Honda e got criticism for it’s low range, yet the R5/Alpine seems to escape because everyone loves them…? R5/Alpine really needs to be over 200 miles. And to every manufacturer, stop doing black headliners!

I absolutely love that car or the R5 and will be replacing my E-208 at the end of my finance agreement in 3 years. I would have it in blue though. Great video and a really good to get Mrs Petrol Ped’s view! The only fly is the E-208 GTi and the Corsa GTE! You should see if you can get a shot of those cars and see what you think!

The blue is definitely a fantastic choice, and thanks for the suggestion on those other models! 😊

Great end of term review. It is ALWAYS nice to get a 2 different points of view when reviewing any car, whether 2 men or or a man & woman as we all look at things differently and can be affected by things differently. The R5/Alpine does need a glass or proper sunroof. (Not as much as the Megane e-tech though!) Am also impressed that your wife decided to wear clothing to match the leather interior🤣

It’s great to have those different perspectives, and I’m glad you noticed the outfit coordination! 😂

I just got a R5 for my wife and our day to day car and I’m loving it. Got it on Saturday and went for a 1400km during the weekend and was really impressed about how capable and fun it is. This is our first electric and it worked a lot better than I expected for a long trip and now I think the second car can be something more fun and track focused.

I’ve had my GTS+ in Alpine Blue since June. Was getting 180 miles range in the warmer weather but now getting around 150 miles in the colder Scottish weather. Not a problem as we charge at home and have solar panels and a Jag XKR for the longer range journey I might have to do once or twice a year. I agree on the storage. I also bought a cup holder but my wife spilled some juice out of her cup and temporarily sent the car into meltdown. I think the power is fine given the state of our roads. I’ve not actually missed my FK8 Civic Type R GT. That is the best compliment I can give the Alpine. Oh and I also do the same with the electric windows.

Lovely to see Tracy on the channel again!! I think the A290 looks great and I see a few in and around where I live and there’s a dealership not a million miles away from where I live.. But it’s the range that would put me off geting one if I ever went the EV route.

Early in the production of Citroen’s DS3 I had one as a company car. Driving all over the UK without a cupholder was a nightmare!

I own a Renault 4, love it. If I was rich, I’d buy one of these Alpines as a run around, lovely interior, easy to park and fun to drive.

    Thanks for the video
I had this car since 1year and half 33000km but mainly to make long trip (not for using every day as I have a professional vehicle)
I went from north of France until Norway 🇳🇴 without any problem (pass trough Belgium 🇧🇪, Germany 🇩🇪, Danemark 🇩🇰, Sweden 🇸🇪 and Norway 🇳🇴) 4900 km within 6 days it was really a pleasure but you need to accept that you stop every 200 km 25minutes…
But now I have accepted that and this is fully compensate by the pleasure you have on driving it! 😊

I’ve had mine since September and I can categorically say it is my favourite car I’ve ever owned. I just can’t stop driving it. So glad you love it too. I got the white with the blue Alpine lettering and it just makes me so happy to look at 😊
