I finally drove the Polestar 5 and I was SHOCKED!

The brand-new Polestar 5 is lastly here and Nicola has actually been amongst the very first to drive it on correct roads, consisting of the last leg of Polestar's epic Sweden-to-Sahara journey through southern Spain and Gibraltar.

This sleek new electric GT is intended directly at the Porsche Taycan, Lotus Emeya and Mercedes EQS, raising to 884hp, a declared 421 miles of range and ultra-fast 350kW charging. But is it actually sufficient to lure buyers away from Porsche?

In this video, Nicola discovers what the Polestar 5 is truly like to drive, whether the smart MagneRide suspension measures up to the hype, and if the Performance version is worth the additional money. There's likewise a better take a look at the significant outside design, the minimalist Scandinavian interior, the questionable missing rear window and the surprisingly compact boot.
The Polestar 5 rests on a completely custom platform engineered with assistance from former Aston Martin and Lotus professionals, and it assures supercar rate with long-distance comfort. However with the electrical Jaguar looming on the horizon, should you buy this now, stick with a Taycan, or wait to see what Jag delivers?

Enjoy to the end for Nicola's complete decision, and let us know in the remarks whether you 'd pick the Polestar 5 over its competitors.

    Wouldnt dare take it in any UK multi storey given those dimensions

      And therein lies a problem – if you want an EV with decent range, you need a big battery – and therefore a big car. Roads and car parks in the UK just aren’t meant for big cars.

      @dogsbodyish8403 Also why there are so many EV SUVs, easier to fit the battery in a smaller car when it’s taller.

    I like the P5 and already sat in one but I think I prefer the Emeya. 🙂

    You know if you painted this red and put a Ferrari logo on the front it’d look like a really nice 5 seat electric Ferrari (you know in case they suddenly need one)

      Or you can spend 4x more for the real Playmobil Ferrari 😂

      I just had to try this with AI 😂
      Run this prompt on your favorite image gen app.

      Set the Polestar 5 with a Ferrari logo and in the signature red color. The scene should be a breathtaking summer in southern Italy, with rolling hills in the background.

      You’re welcome.

    Absolutely beautiful car and my dream EV. So good to have genuinely good looking saloons coming onto the market and Polestar’s design is just so cool, elegant and classy. It makes Mercedes look like they have been shopping in Poundland for their trim. Love the P5.

    Now make it an estate!

    1. @YananoBere Avatar
      @YananoBere

      That’s very, very likely given that they did an estate version of the 4 (for people with pets) and the Taycan which is its main rival also comes in estate form.

    These cars are fantastic and look amazing but when you get a price tag that is over 3 times the average wage in the UK you have to ask yourselves if we are missing the point a bit.

      Yeah I mean over £100,000 is pushing into house territory

    2. @SusieSmart Avatar
      @SusieSmart

      There are many cars available from other “luxury” manufacturers which are ~3x the average UK wage.

      The Polestar 5 is Polestar’s flagship product. When you compare it to the flagships from BMW, Audi and Mercedes it’s a relative bargain.
      The high end versions of these which would roughly match the Polestar 5 on performance (none are as quick) would be ~£170 for the BMW i7 M70, ~£190k for the Mercedes S63 E Performance and ~£124k for the Audi S8.

      If you wanted a more “sporty” 4 door couple then you’d be looking at the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, now that starts at just over £162,000 but as will all Porsches, the options list can easily push these prices much higher. I mean a fully loaded Taycan which matches the Polestar 5 is gonna cost in excess of £200k.

      @jamesmiller113

      They’re luxury performance cars for sure, but that price is largely a fudge to sell inflated leases, making them seem a steal. The manufacturers know they won’t get the full list price

      “if we are missing the point a bit”

      If you want a cheaper car, buy a cheaper car. There are plenty out there.

      Or if you want a more expensive car, there are many cars that have a price tag more than the average LIFETIME total earnings.

    This makes me excited for the 2 replacement. I hope the 2 will look like a smaller version of this. Give me a RWD single motor, and I’m happy.

      @GregS-UK

      +1 to that.
      But then I’ll have to wait another three years for it to hit the used market and my sort of price point 🫤. I might need a lot of impulse control…

      @thedreamfactory6964

      @GregS-UKThere’s lots of Model 3’s if the requirements are: 4 doors, quick, RWD.., Even new way cheaper than a Polestar 2. Or buy a second hand Model S, Quicker than this Polestar….

    The simply stunning slick and clean Scandinavian design, Polestar nailed it again with the 5, outside and inside look just perfection, and the big thing is that actually EV platform beneath the looks is really great proper sports saloon (once again just the weight should be lower, like Lucid manges to do with Air), I really hope that updates that are hopefully coming to still great 2 will be similar, it also getting dedicated EV platform.
    Porsche Taycan, Audi GT E-tron, Lotus Eletre, Lucid Air Sapphire definitely have some competition coming, and hope we get full comparison test soon🤟🤟🤟
