Ferrari Luce – Watch This BEFORE Hating The Car OR Hating ME !

This week has actually been the most difficult of my 10+ years of doing YouTube. I knew the web's reaction to the Ferrari Luce would be massive but I had no concept no negative it would be and the accusations the would be levelled at me. I had no other alternative than to make this video!

Shmee’s video explained the ‘constraints’ perfectly

He did a great job explaining the behind-the-scenes realities 👍

Exactly. In the end, it’s not for car enthusiasts people but a flex for sillicon valley nerds who want a 750.000$ (options included) Nissan Leaf !

Harris weighed in on it with a phone call he got from Ferrari also and explained why he didn’t attend.

The Tech Bros are pretty binary on the ASD ‘curve, they want a Singer or a Leaf. There really isn’t an in between and a £500k car isn’t even in between it a total miss hit built for a non existent customer like a Jaguar EV. Who will really buy it. .

Exactly, and why so many pros appeared to be like rabbits in the headlights in the launch videos. This is a car for tech heads not petrolheads and will sell to them regardless of what we think. As Shmee said it should have a new sub-brand that reflects the distinction between the two markets they are now selling to.

People making it personal are off the reservation and need to give their heads a wobble. It’s a car. No-one is curing cancer here.

From what Tim said, the event sounded quite uncomfortable and stressful when filming. Having all the people watching, and trying to use the 30 mins you had with the car. Your video was very informative, as a stand alone car it’s not bad. I just can’t look at it like it’s a Ferrari though.

      Is a Urus a Lamborghini, a Bentayga a Bentley, a Cullinan a Rolls Royce?

People are unhinged. I get disliking the car… but attacking the individual/Petrol Ped (or others) is crazy to me.

I think when a new radical design is launched, people seem to take offence because it’s not what they expected, take for example, the Jelly Mould Sierra that replaced the much-loved Cortina, which went on to sell over 1.2 million and become the tenth best-selling/popular car “Jelly Mould” Ford Sierras were sold in the UK between 1982 and 1993. Nicknamed for its radically futuristic design.

…and it was still an ugly jelly mould when it ended production. They tried a few times to correct and improve the looks, and that wasn’t because the original was a work of genius.

But the whole point of a good designer is to take account of all the constraints and produce a good looking result!! Otherwise what’s the point of employing a designer??

I don’t think that is right; if you have something negative to say I think you should be able to. What is needed is to not be offensive.

Sorry to hear that you’re receiving stick for attending a difficult product launch. I’ve been following your channel for some time and your integrity and honesty is (to me) never in doubt. Chin up Peter.

    @98687

I think obviously if offered you want to go. But other journalists – with integrity – didn’t go or weren’t invited – because Ferrari were scared and knew the car is trash. By going you become part of the Ferrari PR machine and have to accept the backlash.

A lot of the videos were not honest and you can see that clearly. And pressure isn’t an excuse. No videos I have seen with people there were open about the reality of that car. If you can’t be honest, you should walk away. I know it’s hard, but if you don’t, you invite accusations that are hard to defend

100%! Completely agree. Toe the line and become friends with the Ferrari marketing machine = future access and views. As you say, others who wouldn’t or couldn’t be controlled weren’t invited or didn’t go.

I think what most people think about those who where on site for the reveal, was that none of you were honest about 1.what the product was 2. how it looked and 3. how un-Ferrari its styling was. It just felt… Disingenuous. Like… You all felt so intimidated by the “honor” of being invited, that you didn’t feel free to express yourself honestly. And quite frankly even in this video you still aren’t. Y’all are gas lighting us, because you’re afraid you won’t get invited again.
