    The VW is obviously nicer but the pricing for the Buzz is insane.

      KIA are pushing the lower spec price, VW haters are pushing the higher Buzz price. The difference like for like is around 5K – 10K in Euros.
      KIA seems under powered and is front wheel drive. Noise and stability on motorways needs comparing before taking the plunge.

      @Louis8989-1 I love how you live in a perfect world where everybody can just thrown an extra 10k on top of their original budget.

      Every Volkswagen I owned was used. And far better buys than the cheaper Fords and French cars of that period.
      I’m simply addressing the hype of the VW Van being “insane” and we have no real prices on a like for like basis.

      @Louis8989-1 the price difference is roughly 30k pounds. Kia is almost half price

      @CodyChaI can’t speak for the UK. Here in Germany it’s about 10.000€ when you configure them with the same battery size and I wouldn’t buy the KIA with a 51kWh battery and only 150kw max charging, regardless how fine it might be for some people.

    The door handle on the PV5 sliding door seemed wildly misaligned with the adjacent body panel

    I’d have the PV5 and a Renault 5 Iconic instead of a Buzz

      UK website says *from £32K* there’s going to be some disappointed buyers and the most expensive KIA is still 110HP less than the mid range BUZZ. The BUZZ Cargo was £39K in the summer.

    That PV5 is going to sell by the shipload.

    1. @stephenwensley Avatar

      But that range, who puts a 46kwh battery in the passenger version. That’ll be lucky to do 100 real world miles in winter, even the bigger battery one is going to make a buzz look like a long distance range tripping monster

    2. @FFVoyager Avatar
      @FFVoyager

      @stephenwensley I reckon on closer to 150 miles or so (Kia, like Hyundai, are pretty good at making efficient EVs) and it’s not intended to be a motorway blaster – it’s for ferrying kids and stuff around. Which it will do very well indeed.

      (Get real about ‘range’. The average driver does 7000 miles a year. That’s only 135 miles a week.)

    3. @stephenwensley Avatar
      @stephenwensley

      @FFVoyagerunlike the rest of the Kia range this one has the large frontal area challenge, so it’ll probably be 2.5 miles per kWh at the best

    4. @lilypower Avatar
      @lilypower

      @stephenwensleyagree, I’ll get my id buzz with larger battery in April (for work), the battery is the deciding factor for me, I’m doing 150-200 miles 2-3 days a week with work, I pay some extra tax on it and can use it for family travel as well, need that range.

    5. @stephenwensley Avatar
      @stephenwensley

      @lilypowerit almost comes down to do you want an adventure vehicle (Buzz) or stressed parent/unruly children 1 mile school run trip transport (PV5)

    16” tyres are a lot cheaper than 20”. Actually quite a saving when you need a winter and a summer set

  6. @Louis8989-1 Avatar
    @Louis8989-1

    They’ve done their best to copy the BUZZ. Added heated and more luxury seats and more power points. Much better storage bins. But comparing like for like you need the PV5 Elite version which is still underpowered. You need to compare the stability and noise levels The VW is flawless in those two areas. Also KIA front wheel drive – VW rear wheel drive.
    .
    German prices PV5 Elite 46.000 Euros – ID. BUZZ 170PS 49.999 Euros

    Quite honestly, it should. VW literally means the ‘people’s car’. For that price, they can’t claim that name.

    The view through the rear screen would be improved if the back seat head rests has been retracted.

    03:27 I’m not in the market for an MPV, but the that fact that the PV5’s starting cost (£32,995) is almost a whole PV5 less than the starting price of a Buzz (£60,000) kills the VW on the spot!
    What supply-chain sorcery have Kia whipped up to hit such a competitive price point?!

    1. @jwvandegronden Avatar
      @jwvandegronden

      Wrong question. Greedy VW vulture culture upticking the price point as if it was an iPhone, just as overpriced

    2. @Dqtube Avatar
      @Dqtube

      The Kia is a purpose-built vehicle/platform. Cost reduction is therefore achieved by using parts that are good enough not to compromise the product, such as smaller batteries, smaller wheels, and less powerful motors.
      On the other hand, Buzz has been presented from the start as a fancy status symbol for nostalgic folks, not as an everyday workhorse.

    3. @BlackHawkTejas Avatar

      Not much Kia sorcery tbh! Rather than its the country’s doing.
      South Korea produces its own batteries, chips/SoCs, displays, steel, memory chips etc… themselves. Those are all the basics of Modern EVs & the Software Defined Vehicles.
