RAM’s 2024 RAM REV Is The 500 Mile Luxury EV Truck We’ve Been Waiting For

With the most significant production battery pack, the most truck towing (in the meantime a minimum of) and the most luxurious truck interior ever, the RAM REV appears like it'll be the truck to beat. Here's what we know so far.

Looks like they wanna keep the best Truck interior in the segment.

Love the passenger screen. Possible 500 mile range is impressive, but not really needed if you are not towing. Price will be key.

500 miles can be pretty important for some. When I go to Asheville, there are only 4 chargers there where I can charge. 500 mile range lets me make the round trip to Asheville or to Nashville without having to charge. So, it’s something I’m possibly willing to pay for.

Then you are paying a lot for a very unique situation.

You’re not doing 500 miles if you’re towing something. Not happening. I don’t buy into the whole EV movement.

@Sim Racing Veteran No one said you are doing 500 miles if towing. If t he range is 500 miles without towing, then with towing you are probably in the mid 200’s and that is game changing right now. However, towing with an EV is not very economical right now and has a way to go. And go ahead and state how you can tow 10k lbs for 500 miles without ever stopping in your huge gas guzzler of a truck…. We all heard it before.

Agree, I’m not sure why they’d push a concept to then just show the actual more practical vehicle. Considerable improvement in some areas of the Lightning but it’s also 2 years out. Ford’s T3 platform is likely going to leapfrog this in some way

      What he said^….

But by the time the REV, hits the market, the poor timing of the concept’s release date, will be forgotten….

    0-60 in 4.4. 350-500 mile range. 14000 towing. 2 feet water fording.
Doesn’t look like much, but they brought their A-Game, to everything but the styling.

This is all fantastic except when the price comes out 😭, tungsten is surely to be 110k I think, standard air suspension is nice though

And regardless of how high the price is, it still won’t be profitable.

@FSD27 maybe the higher trims but probably not the lower ones who knows, Lithium prices vary in price so much as we see they’ve recently crashed

Is the concept the one that had a mid-gate? That would be really useful. But a range extender is probably even more useful.

Yep, it was just part of the concept…. So GM will be the only one that offers a mid-gate, in the near term….

I think this is going to appeal to those traditional truck body fans. With GM looking to remove apple car play and android auto people are going to be looking for options for these must haves.

I think range extension is an excellent idea in pickup trucks. A smaller 30-50kw battery with a 4cyl generator. 100 mile range for around town and then 500+ miles on combined. Challenge would be to make such a system cost effective and reliable.

I think you nailed the lukewarm reception, or should I say deception. The concept vehicle was incredibly exciting and revolutionary. This seems really no different in tech and styling to the current 1500s. It’s a shame, because this truck has impressive capabilities when compared to other EV truck offerings, but it’s disappointing compared to what they showed a few months ago in the concept.

It’s a rebadged ICE RAM Limited that they filled with batteries and added more materials and features to the bed & interior, strikingly similar to the phoned in job that the Ford *Lightning* _also_ is. Tesla hasn’t even gotten their Cybertruck off the production floor yet. GM is laughing.

The General is the only American legacy automaker that actually took the opportunity to develop bespoke EVs worth their asking prices. You can look at their Ultium EVs just at a glance and you can tell they’re new vehicles. This looks like a 2014 Dodge Ram with a aftermarket headlight kit. 🤦🏽‍♂️

You know the price is bad when they don’t mention it. The battery pack is HUGE and will take a long time to charge and be expensive to charge. 228KWh for the high end will take an eternity. 168KWh won’t be quick either. I think by 2027 things will make sense. 😮

I just want to know if “range extender” is a hybrid, with an engine charging a battery.

Anything that removes 5mpg vehicles from the roads (and hopefully charged with electricity from renewable sources) is a win for all. But what I am really waiting for is a Corolla/Prius type of car (not an suv/crossover and not a truck – a car) that is an EV. And doesn’t cost north of 40k$.
We need new type of batteries.

This is Gonna be quite expensive else the ICE variants will get cannibalized, which is the money making portfolio.

At this point, the Rivian seems like a better deal and their future portfolio should build on the great existing vehicle nicely

800V is the only way to go with large batteries, so at least it has that going for it.

All truck manufacturers need to create a compact truck, like the maverick with hybrid capabilities and adopt for larger. Not all of us need a 1/2 ton pick up and this coming from a farmer. We want a work truck to haul some stuff, but not always. Different tools for different jobs. Most importantly, something 35mpg should be standard.

Ehhh… I love the concept but I’d gladly take half that battery.

If we’re lucky, they’ll sell you one with half the batter for half the cost. We’ll see though.

Lots of great features that will only mean (as you have indicated) a 6 figure MSRP ($115K+) for the Tungsten. EV technology is impressive, but the pricing is too expensive for most with growing families. With rising inflation it’s getting to the point that car loans are going to have to be extended to 10 years for people to afford monthly payments (except for those high wage earners). A truck is no longer for the simple farm. I would like to know where the battery pack components are from and where the battery pack is being manufactured and by what country (since us elite Americans could not possibly mine and build the components in the USA because of the ridiculous regulations by the EPA that keep us from competing with other nations. There needs to be significant improvement in battery technology and charging networks if people really want EV’s. It seems to make more sense to have a hybrid system with smaller batteries and an ICE to minimize the impact on the earth’s environment (which is the only reason EV’s are being pushed right now). And, the gov’t should not be using my tax dollars to give tax incentives for EV’s. Let the consumer decide what they want to drive, not the gov’t. Good first review, as usual. Looking forward to others.
