Totally agree. Long time Subaru guy. I was going to get one of the original Solterras but ultimately backed away because of the specs and price. I’m really happy to see what Subaru has been doing, and expect one of these will be in my driveway in the next year or two.

These EVs have essentially doubled their lineup and the Solterra (and bz) made big strides from their first iteration. Like I said in the video, the impact is big and I’m curious to see what sales look like after a full year of them all being available. -Travis

Future battery tech doesn’t seem as “around the corner” as everyone wants it to be but I’m not sure that’s a big problem. -Travis

Honestly makes no sense why GM wasn’t the winner and they have a large range of models. Those Subaru EVs are Toyota models, so why not just give Toyota the win?

Great question about Toyota vs Subaru, in this case it’s about the smaller company having the same product or even products with a performance or cost adantage and being the much larger beneficiary of the partnership. -Travis

Cadillac should have won. Despite the industry-wide slowdown in electric sales, they have managed to grow and offer a full lineup of vehicles. But somehow Subaru gets the award for copying Toyota’s half-hearted attempts?

Props are owed to Cadillac but they didn’t have a display at the show so therfore wouldn’t be able to win. -Travis

So Toyota. A Subaru EV by any other name, is a Toyota EV just the same.

Mostly, yes, but I think Subaru absolutely scored in this partnership. -Travis

As a Solterra owner I am very happy to see Subaru win this. They definitely got the better end of the deal with Toyota. The Uncharted is better than the CH-R & the Getaway is more powerful than the Highlander.

If Subaru had decent in-car route-planning , then I think they would have nailed most of the major features needed by an EV buyer. Alas, this is a major omission for a 2026 model, and along with only average charging speeds and range, I would say they went from “not competitive” with the previous Solterra, to “give them a look” with this new lineup.

It sounds like there’s work being done on the route planning side of things but no big updates as of yet. -Travis
