Has China lastly developed a genuine high-end vehicle to handle the similarity Variety Rover and Bentley ?!
Mat's over in Dubai, and he's got his hands on the Yangwang U8! It's a colossal SUV packed with tech and high-end functions, but does it provide enough to handle the developed elite?! Let's take a closer look …

Beginning with the design, it's clear that Yangwang has taken inspiration from one extremely recognisable high-end cars and truck – the Land Rover Protector! Taking a look at the car from the side, the total look and shape have plainly been 'obtained' from the Defender. The shape of the body panels and the door mirrors was plainly inspired by Land Rover, and the same can be stated for the spare wheel position at the back of the cars and truck. However, at the front end, Yangwang has actually clearly entered a various instructions, with a huge grille flanked either side by angled headlights that provide it a load of existence on the roadway!

Step inside, and the U8 is a seriously luxurious location to be. There's leather and soft-touch materials in pretty much every component of the interior, including 2 50kw wireless charging pads that are lined with Alcantara! The physical buttons on the steering wheel feel solid and well-crafted, and the digital dials and infotainment screens are both large and incredibly responsive. There's a refrigerator included in the centre console, screens for the rear guests, and all seats have massage functions. The interior of the U8 is a seriously reliable automobile!

In spite of its size and the fact that it weighs practically 3.5 tonnes, the Yangwang U8 just houses a 2-litre 4 cylinder turbo fuel under the bonnet! Nevertheless, that's not all … There's a 50kWh battery pack and four electric motors – one for each wheel! The fuel engine is likewise mostly used just to power the battery pack once it's out of charge. As a result, the U8 can produce a fantastic 1,196 hp and 1,280 Nm!

Naturally, a vehicle of this size does not come cheap, with the equivalent rate of the automobile in China working out to ₤ 130,000! So is it actually worth it? And does it stand a possibility of dethroning class leaders like the Variety Rover and Bentayga? You'll require to stick to Mat to see on your own!

Big thanks to Pupil of Fate Motors () for offering us access to this Yangwang U8!

      If it’s over 3500kg then you won’t be able to drive it unless you do the course for category C, that’s why they’ve made it just under 3500kg

      Class BE (upgrade to Class B) allows you to drive vehicles up to 4250 kg as well as a 750 kg maximum towing capacity for a total weight of 5000 kg. This class was initially introduced for being able to drive commercial vehicles like those black UPS trucks without having to pass a truck license (C, 7500 kg+) but with more and more heavy EV’s like this coming onto the market, it may become also useful for private use.

      Yeah currently you cannot, because the gross vehicle weight of this thing is almost 4 tons. That limit will be increased within a few years, depends when each country applies said law, to 4250kg. But until then, you’re not allowed to drive this thing.

      I think the future is that they will make this limit higher with EVs coming. Considering properly constructed asphalt road can easily withstand 3.5 tonnes for at least 15 to 25 years.

    5. @ayanohanesaki80 Avatar
      @ayanohanesaki80

      @Waldo1122 It’s not a pointless gimmick, it is useful. Imagine you go on a wrong turn and the road you’re on is a two-way one lane road. You have to make tedious turns and it’d take a few minutes to turn around then you’d disrupt traffic because it’s one lane, no space for other cars to just drive aside. Then you have to drive around the block just to turn to the opposite direction. This gimmick you called Pointless can do it in seconds without disrupting traffic. You obviously do not know anything about the difficulties of driving technology
