This is the all-new Fiat Grande Panda!

Fiat has actually accepted a retro aesthetic with the new Granda Panda, and initially glance, we believe it looks absolutely excellent!

However is it more style over compound? Or are you better off selecting a competitor such as the Hyundai Inster or Renault 5? Let's take a more detailed look …

The outside style of the Grande Panda will easily help it stand out on any street, particularly in this intense yellow paint task! From the front end, the blocky-styled headlights and front end give it an almost Minecraft-like appearance, however that's no bad thing! Along the side, there's a substantial Panda logo embossed throughout the doors, and little Fiat badges and symbols are found throughout. The range-topping car we have here also features roofing system rails and a blacked-out rear window. Around the back, the retro-inspired, blocky design continues, with a 3D Panda badge, block-shaped rear taillights, and additional plastic trim.

Step inside and the Grande Panda continues to impress. The retro, blocky design continues, as discovered with the air vents and the padded (in addition to comfy!) seats. There are bamboo/wood-effect products throughout the dash, along with a large dual digital dial & infotainment screen. The system and customisation of the dials may be quite basic, but it has to do with what you would get out of an automobile at this cost point. The same can be said for the products throughout most of the cabin, however it's a similar story when you look at this vehicle's key competitors.

The Grande Panda is readily available as either an ICE or EV. If you desire gas power, you can select a 1.2-litre turbo gas engine that includes front-wheel drive and 110hp. If you desire an EV, you'll find a single motor under the bonnet that drives the front wheels and delivers 113hp.

In regards to price, a petrol-powered Grande Panda begins with just β‚€ 18,995, while the electric edition begins with β‚€ 21,035. If you want to select the range-topping EV (like the one in this video), it'll just cost you β‚€ 24,035! So is the EV the ideal option? You'll require to stick to Mat to see on your own!

      With a battery no larger than the original Zoe, it is not.

      @RiseAgainstTheDevilAndGod agree. 260km WLTP in 2025 is a joke, considering that battery prices have been constantly decreasing.

      For reference, we own two EVs, a Tesla Model 3 LR and a Renault Zoe R135 (50kwh battery and CCS charging).

      The usual objection from manufacturers is that city cars don’t need a lot of range, and that is absolutely true. But my parents used to travel in an OG Fiat Cinquecento. It was probably uncomfortable but feasible. Try making the occasional long trip in a 20-something kWh car.

    3. @Rentta Avatar
      @Rentta

      @superleggenda One thing that also decreases it’s range is the fact that it uses LFP battery

    4. @RiseAgainstTheDevilAndGod Avatar
      @RiseAgainstTheDevilAndGod

      @superleggenda exactly. You need the extra capacity for the odd longer journey, as well as the longevity of the battery. Losing 30% capacity after 7-10 years is completely unviable when the base capacity was not enough to begin with. I know that’s not always the case, and am remotely far from making clarkson’s argument that you’ll need to throw the battery away after 3 years (what an idiot), but some degradation is unavoidable, though it does slow down after the first 10 or so % if I’m not mistaken. Nonetheless, ICE vehicles lose power with age, batteries degrade with age, how you treat them will affect the speed of degradation, but it’s something manufacturers need to account for instead of peddling 10-15 year old tech put in a fancy new wrapper. They’re scrambling cause they “can’t” cut their billionaire CEOs, board members, etc multi-million bonuses and salaries, as if those useless parasites did anything important, whilst also being unable to fire more workers, as they’re already running on skeleton crews, hence development and innovation go right out the window.

    5. @superleggenda Avatar
      @superleggenda

      @Rentta I don’t follow. LFP batteries ARE less energy dense, but this is more a design choice to keep price low (or markup high, however you prefer). My guess is you could fit twice as much battery in there. But then they would have to either increase the price or accept a lower margin, and that does not happen.

      To be fair, ICE cars aren’t that far off. In this context, the difference is always in the power unit, ICE or EV.

      @toonistiny but ICE have character atleast, number of cylinders and their arrangement, plus aspiration… Basically there’s soo much to work on, while in EVs just a battery pack with extra motors for extra performance and range…

      @TobiasB-d7z

      The 500 is either for woman or warm brothers. It just feels ridiculous driving it as a 2m tall man. Not interesting at all, even in the performance versions. It just tried to much to be a Mini.
      This Panda is more all around cool like the Renault 5 and the sun coming Twingo. I could see myself in that much more than in the 500. And the 600 is just ridiculous in general.

    3. @TobiasB-d7z Avatar
      @TobiasB-d7z

      @purwantiallan5089no it doesn’t. The gearbox feels like old chewing gum and it’s front wheel drive. You can’t compare this to a 1000kg Rear wheel drive with a locking Diff and a brilliant gear box.

    With all the hate Stellantis gets, it’s nice to see them focus on relatively affordable good small cars. So many other manufacturers totally abandoned that end of the market, and they have not only made something sensible in the Panda but also interesting. Hope it does well!

      @TheDigitalDadUK There are good Stellantis cars, I also tried some. But their petrol engines are bad, the 1.2 is just really bad in reliability. Also, why would I actually support Stellantis that boycotts EuroNCAP and has no safety ratings for their newest cars? And a 0* result of the C3 from the Global NCAP speaks volumes about why exactly they avoid EuroNCAP, regardless of what nonsense reason the CEO gave.

    About the range you should consider that this has a LFP battery. LFP can be charged regularly at 100%, unlike NMC batteries, like the ones on the Hyundai inster. That for daily use you should stop at 80%. So when i consider the range for me is 100% charge if LFP battery or 80% for NMC batteries.

    1. @SzaszaG1 Avatar
      @SzaszaG1

      Nah, the daily 50-60 miles is ok to charge to 80% but the occasional roadtrip, you want to use the longer range.

      LFP is better but need at least 250miles real life motorway, winter range. Just buy a used Tesla. I don’t need a small Lego car for 22 grand
