Why do owners hate this car?

Change your automobile with Carwow:

Meet the BYD Seal U!

It's a family-friendly SUV from China, and it features a starting rate of simply ₤ 33,315!

The question is, does it offer enough to steer you away from more recognized, popular brands like Nissan and the ever-popular Qashqai? Let's take a closer look …

Starting with the style, there's no rejecting that the Seal U looks pretty clever on the exterior. The front end is well created, with the DRLs placed under the main headlights, while a large slatted grille provides the cars and truck a good presence. Along the side, there's a vibrant crease running along the width of the automobile, while there's likewise great deals of chrome trim around the windows and the door sills. There's just one choice of alloy wheel style readily available, but it looks pretty smart. Around the back, there's a full-length light bar, and there are lots of layers from the top to the bottom. All-in, it looks reasonably smart.

The interior of the Seal U is normally reliable. It includes lots of soft-touch materials throughout, and the seats are covered in leatherette and are both heated and cooled! There's a big infotainment screen in the middle of the dash (which can rotate!), and the system is super-responsive and simple to utilize. It also features Apple CarPlay and Android Automobile as standard. There's a large digital dial screen along with a heads-up display screen, and there's a great quantity of storage throughout the cabin.

In terms of engines, every variation of the Seal U is a plug-in hybrid. The entry-level vehicle has a 1.5-litre fuel engine paired with an electric motor, as well as an 18.3 kWh battery, and it can produce 218hp. The next car up has the same engine and single motor, however a bigger 26.6 kWh battery to permit further driving on electric power alone. This version also provides 218hp. The range-topping Seal U includes a turbocharger to the 1.5-litre engine, and it likewise includes an extra motor for all-wheel drive. The motors and engine integrate to produce 324hp.

So while the entry-level Seal U costs ₤ 33,315, the price rises to ₤ 40,015 for the range-topper. So is it worth it? You'll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

    4. @jamesleate Avatar
      @jamesleate

      @TsLengThey are beta tested on the public. They go straight from design to manufacture without any testing. A lot of the “best” Chinese cars actually have massive flaws and lawsuits that the media don’t talk about.
      One model of BYD has a floor that splits in half after 20k miles.

      In China, when a new EV car crashes or catches on fire, they have teams of men who arrive often before emergency services and de-badge the vehicle to hide its make and model.
      Each manufacturer has it’s own teams which are automatically alerted after a crash takes place

      I have my AWD one set to high. It’s definitely noticeable. Especially when leaving work with a full charge and it won’t regen at all when you’re expecting it to slow your roll up to the lights xD Didn’t realise the modes affect that. Mine never leaves Sport mode.
