Satisfy the Corvette E-Ray! This time, in the UK!

It's the hybrid variation of the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray, and Mat's about to discover simply what's changed over the basic car.

Beginning with the style, the Corvette E-Ray gets the wide-body of the Z06 so it's almost 10cm larger than the basic car.

The Corvette E-Ray is powered by the very same 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 as the standard car however that's where the similarities end as the E-Ray includes hybrid power also!

The engine powers the rear wheels alone however the E-Ray is in fact AWD as it has an electrical motor on the front axle that when integrated with the engine puts out a total of 644hp and 778nm of torque. All that hybrid tech comes at cost though as this E-Ray weighs 1,907 kg!

The E-Ray starts from around ₤ 153,440, which is around ₤ 55,000 more than the routine C8 Corvette. So is it worth it? You'll require to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

      @mitchellsteindler

      It was shown to be inaccurate in a review basically as soon as the car was available.

    2. @TBolt1 Avatar
      @TBolt1

      This video shows that it’s pretty accurate when deducting the 1-foot rollout. I’m not defending Chevy – just giving facts. Watch the entire video.

    4. @LearningFast Avatar
      @LearningFast

      @TBolt11 foot rollout is .2 seconds. At the very most it would be .3 seconds. Chevy states a time that is more than half a second faster than what it actually can do without subtracting rollout.

    The wheels are full carbon fiber… that “metal” look is a heat shield added mainly for tracking the car.

    1. @RyanPlaid Avatar
      @RyanPlaid

      Carbon fiber wheels are the dumbest thing ever .. magnesium wheels are better in every aspect and won’t get dented the second u drive it off the lot. There’s virtually no way of ever driving the car a lot and not having to replace them after 6 months

    2. @C8ZME Avatar
      @C8ZME

      @RyanPlaid Put 11000 miles on my C8Z with CF wheels and not a single issue. Track day, multiple trips to the mountains, and lots of spirited driving in between.

    The corvette is known as a value supercar here in the states. A new base vette with the Z51 performance package is $79k while a new base 911 Porsche with options is $150k.

    1. @mnmsauce Avatar
      @mnmsauce

      The model he’s driving is listed at 150K in pounds, so 200K US. Sounds like it’ll be known as a rip off in the UK 😅

    2. @chriscollins550 Avatar
      @chriscollins550

      That’s why it’s not a supercar and the other fact of high production numbers and price point.

    3. @ebayer1980 Avatar
      @ebayer1980

      because it is made in USA. In every other country it needs to be exported, so You need to pay for import tax, shipping, dealer centres and other stuff. In Europe base Corvette costs same as base 911.

    4. @sanjaisrivathsan Avatar
      @sanjaisrivathsan

      well the 911 is a all rounder and atleast porsche is genorous and dont lie about the perfomance figures….

    5. @derbigpr500 Avatar
      @derbigpr500

      And the base 911 is still better value even at double the price, that’s how much better it is. There’s no such thing as a “value supercar”, there’s supercars and supercar wannabes. A base 911 will run circles around a equally priced Corvette on any road or track and will be way more refined, luxurious, fun and reliable doing it. Also Corvettes are way more expensive outside of USA.

  6. @patrickmause Avatar
    @patrickmause

    Yes .. the wheels are carbon fiber. The “white” is a coating to prevent heat damage. Also, the Euro version of all C8s have OPFs – therefore they’re heavier and have less hp than the US spec.

      @nubin0807 m3 is a sports sedan whereas corvette is the classic sports coupe. It’s more sporty by far, because mid engine, lighter, and more agile. The m3 exceeds in the daily-ability I guess but falls apart if you don’t need to drive your kids around. A better comparison is the m4 vs the corvette.
