Satisfy the Skoda Elroq!

It's an all-new mid-sized electrical SUV, and it's implied to take on class leaders such as the Kia EV3 and Hyundai Kona Electric. The question is, should the Elroq be at the top of your shopping list if you remain in the market for a car such as this? Let's take a better look.

Relating to the style, the Elroq looks pretty elegant on the exterior. Provided it's electric there's no grille at the front but the split DRLs and headlights assist offer it presence, as do the grooves on the bonnet. Along the side the satin roofing bars stick out to help provide it some definition, while around the back it's all quite standard, however that's no bad thing!

Step within and you might be shocked by just how much space there is, especially for travelers in the back! Up front, the majority of the cabin is covered in soft-touch products, and there's a large infotainment screen on the dash. Sadly, the environment controls are handled through the screen, but at least the system is quite responsive. There's loads of storage to be found, and there's also a digital driver display, although it's relatively little.

There are a couple of models available in the Elroq variety. It starts with the Elroq 50, which is geared up with a single motor for 170hp, a 52kWh battery, and a claimed range of 232 miles. The design we're examining here is the 85, which has a 77kWh battery, a declared series of 355 miles, and a single motor.

The entry-level Elroq is priced from ₤ 31,510, rising to around ₤ 40,000 for the top-of-the-range edition. So is it worth it? You'll require to stick to Mat to see on your own!

The Elroq is basically the same car as the Enyaq, only with a smaller boot. But it’s a lot cheaper and most people don’t need the space of an Enyaq. So I expect the Elroq will eat many sales from the Enyaq.

What is interesting here is that EVs have typically been more expensive than their internal combustion counterparts but were now starting to see cost parity between them. Peugeot and Opel both make an electric and internal combustion version of the same SUV and are priced the same. It is not across the board yet but it is getting there.

Because batteries are expensive on their own, worth half value of the car. Also cars have become more expensive in the UK than anywhere else. Cheap feel? I think because the retail price has increased so much in the UK market that you naturally expect higher quality at this price tag.

Because most people want them loaded with extras. Therefore carmakers try to reduce the cost by maximising the number of components that are made from cheap plastic. That’s why they’re expensive and unreliable at the same time.

BS we don’t need or asked for to try to convince people they need to buy a new car + Inflation.
