V8 v I6 v V6 v I4: OFF-ROAD BATTLE

It's time for another off-road showdown!

The 4 vehicles set to go head-to-head over this off-road course are a Jeep Wrangler, an Ineos Grenadier, a Land Cruiser 200 Series, and … a Volkswagen Touareg?!

The Touareg might seem out of location in this list, however trust us, it may be among the most capable cars here! Let's take a better look at the stats …

The Jeep Wrangler rolls up with a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol that's been tuned to provide 304hp and 400Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it weighs in at 2,580 kg. It is also equipped with a load of features to help it off-road, consisting of front & rear locking diffs and a low-range mode.

Up next, we have the tuned Grenadier. It rolls up with a 3-litre straight-six diesel that puts down 249hp and 550Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it weighs in at 2,740 kg. It includes low-range mode, standard locking centre diffs and optional locking front and rear diffs.

Following that, we have the Land Cruiser. It's powered by a 4.5-litre twin-turbo diesel V8 that puts down 286hp and 650Nm. Power is sent out to all 4 wheels via a 6-speed auto, and it weighs 2,555 kg. In terms of off-road capabilities, it has a low-range mode and a Torsen limited-slip centre differential, along with an adjustable ride height.

Finally, we concern the Touareg, which is powered by a 3-litre turbocharged V6 diesel to provide 357hp and 767Nm. It has a 6-speed auto transmission to send this power to all 4 wheels, and it weighs in at 2,700 kg! But it comes packed with off-road tech that has actually caused the big weight increase!

      The chassis articulation on the jeep Wrangler is insane. Too bad they’re not as reliable, otherwise it would’ve been everyone’s first choice for proper off-roading❤

      @poplaurentiu4148

      @Luckyjo21 Not just tires also driver experience off-road.. but then it comes another factor that nobody likes to mention about : maintenance & servicing.. for some (like Jeep & Toyota) parts can be find easy, not so simple to find spare parts availability for Grenadier and Tuareg getting higher costs..

    Touareg looks good, sounds good, performs good. And all that while doing it in comfort. These cars had serious brakes too.

    1. @carholic-sz3qv Avatar
      @carholic-sz3qv

      its litteraly a sport car compared to the others, plus the toyota is actually more comfortable with hydraulic suspensions.

      @brakengrind

      The 1st gen Touareg & Cayenne was other built from the factory. When Porshe designed it, they didn’t know what its customer would use it for. So they made it do everything. The Touareg also comes in v8 petrol & diesel as well as a v10 diesel & the W12 from a Bentley. GO VAG!

    3. @Ki-Bi Avatar
      @Ki-Bi

      @carholic-sz3qv Touareg was extremely comfy suspension wise, had CDC air suspension with adjustable ride height. But comfort is not all about suspension, it is interior, sound proofing and in general premium/luxury feel.

      I saw a video where they brought a first generation Touareq on a trail in Colorado they used to test vehicles. First part was easier than second part that really tests the vehicles abilities. The guys were very impressed with the Touareq’s abilities. They said it was almost over engineered for was premium but was so capable to go off roading. I wish I could have afford one back in the day when available in the US. I had Jetta budget. They were so beautiful inside especially compared to a Ford Explorer.

    1. @carholic-sz3qv Avatar

      its not the chassis its the front solid axle and locking diffs which other vehciles lacks you Sherlock!

    2. @yourtubisfilled7164 Avatar
      @yourtubisfilled7164

      @carholic-sz3qv He just said he likes the chassis. Let him like the chassis, Watson. Also if you ARE mentioning its off-road traits there’s much more to it than just axle type and difs. The Jeeps’s angles, lift and suspension travel are something else and the tires seem much better too for these conditions.

      @brookerobinson8203

      @powerword1331 I could doubt everything, I wasn’t there. But from what i saw the chassis articulation, the way it kept its wheels on the ground was far ahead of the rest of the crowd.

      Nope. I like these ones as refreshers but honestly both types of races are equally interesting as for what the vehicles are made for and to test different forms of speed except for when they drag race off road vehicles on the street drag strip
