Toyota GR Corolla v Honda Civic Type R: DRAG RACE

Modification your automobile with Carwow:

It's time for a Japanese head-to-head!

We've got our hands on the Honda Civic Type R, and it's going up against an imported Toyota GR Corolla! But which will triumph? Let's take a closer look at the stats.

Starting with the Honda, it's powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine that produces 329hp and 420Nm. This power is sent to the front wheels only through a 6-speed handbook transmission, and the cars and truck weighs in at 1,429 kg. As brand-new, it costs from simply under ₤ 52,000.

Next up, we have the GR Corolla, which has been imported from Japan by Whiff Bitz. It's powered by a 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo, which creates 304hp and 370Nm. This power is sent to all 4 wheels through a 6-speed manual, and it pointers the scales at 1,475 kg. It's available to buy from Whif Bitz for ₤ 45,000.

So the Type R has more power, however the GR Corolla has Four Wheel Drive! There's just one way to learn which will win … LET'S RACE!

except neither configurations are ideal on dry tarmac. We’ve had DECADES to understand this.
FWD does not belong in dry tarmac performance, and AWD is for rally. 3 cylinder engines do not belong in performance applications either, especially when Toyota has the 1ZZ, 2ZZ and 1NZ-FE. If you don’t know what those are, you don’t belong in this discussion.

The reason of bogging down is because the type -r never fully disables the traction control, you need to execute a secuence of pressing buttons to fully disable it, when the traction control indicator is blinking that’s a signal of fully disabled traction control, and is a lot more faster.

Turn the ignition to the “on” position.
With the brake pedal depressed, engage the clutch.
      Release the handbrake.
Press the brake pedal twice and hold.

Pull the handbrake up and down twice, holding the final pull.
