Well… technically not to the actual north pole point.

It didn’t reach the true North Pole, which was 800 miles away, and neither the magnetic one for that year of the exploration. Magnetic north pole constantly changes. What they reached was the 1996 magnetic north pole position. So it was all for entertainment only.
