Meet the brand 5!

It's a futuristic yet retro-looking brand-new electrical that follows on from the original 5 which went out of production back in 1996. The concern is, will this brand new little offer enough to catch your attention over its key rivals?

Well when it comes to the style, the brand- 5 is a genuine looker! There are a whole load of design cues that hark back to the original automobile, from the square-shaped headlights & fog lights, through to the tail lights that are in the same shape as on the original vehicle. The door style likewise simulates the old car, although there are a couple of all-new features, including the option to have actually a two-tone coloured roofing. All-in-all, we think it looks fantastic!

Step inside and the brand-new 5 comes with a really smart interior. There's a joint digital dial & infotainment screen, and there are denim-effect products on the seats, the dash and the doors! Sure there are some scratchy plastics to be discovered, and the storage isn't the best, but what do you expect from a small automobile? Oh, and naturally, do not forget the baguette holder …

The Renault 5 features two battery alternatives – a 40kWh battery that has a range of up to 186 miles, and a 52kWh battery with a variety of as much as 249 miles. There are also 3 motor alternatives, with the entry-level delivering 95hp, while the range-topper puts down 150hp.

The Renault 5 starts from simply ₤ 22,000 – so is it worth it ?! Stick with Mat and discover on your own!

USELESS! These cars are too small, cramped, slow and lack any ground clearance. Also not sure if it’s even awd. Small European vehicles are so overrated, that’s why some of them aren’t even on sale on premium north American market and they suck on the other main premium market, China.

Hey Mat you should review EVs from Tata Land Rover specially Tata Land Rover Tiago ev if you are looking for best VFM EV you can get this as low as 9000 GBP brand new and it comes with above 4 star safety rating in Global NCAP. Have a good day.

That car looks beautiful, but the backseats are completely useless for anyone unless they’re extremely small or wanna gain claustrophobia. Also, what’s with the baguette holder ? That doesn’t seem very useful for anyone outside of France but I could be wrong on that I just know I would have no use for that. I think they should just turn it into 2 seater car because there’s no front trunk so to help with storage like groceries and with the backseats being so useless if you find if you could fold them flat to kind of use us an overnight bed if you had to stay somewhere for the backseats, but besides that they’re useless

I’d say the key competitors aren’t really the ID3, Mini Cooper or Zoe. Based on the 25k EUR price, it’d be the new Citroen e-C3, the later coming VW ID2 or maybe even the Dacia Spring.

I currently own an ’88 renault super 5 as a 6km round trip commute car. Cheap to maintain, as just about every mechanic has old parts and knowledge to work on it, cheap to run at about 4 to 5 l/100km, and cheap to insure with a classic car insurance at about 30€ per year. Has a new paint job and upholstery and is really stylish. Amazing buy financially, while also turning heads! This would be the perfect upgrade if i eventually get fed up with old car problems.

This will definitely my next car when my current ev leasing time runs out. Drove three R5s back in the early 90s. One GT Turbo. Up to this day I have no idea how i survived those first years after getting my driving license and had more luck than common sense. When it was not in the repair shop (which was often), I loved driving the GT Turbo and was very sad when we had to separate due not being able to afford and maintain it as a student (had 911 insurance rates lol). The Alpine Version of this new R5 will definitely be on my wishlist. I may even be able to afford it this time.
