The new iX3 is BMW’s future: Is it any good?

Conserve up to ₤ 3750 on an EV with the Electric Vehicle Grant:

This is the all-new BMW iX3 – and it may be BMW's most important cars and truck EVER!

It's the very first car developed on the Neue Klasse architecture, with an all-electric variation of the Three Series coming up next. So let's take a closer take a look at the automobile.

In advance the most notable function is the lit up kidney grille, but provided it's an electrical automobile, this is only used to conceal the chauffeurs support tech. Either side of the front end are air breathers to assist with air circulation, while the bonnet is likewise recessed, once again to help with air circulation. Along the side you'll discover alloys wheels that increase to 22-inches, pop out door manages, and proper door mirrors – no cams here! At the back, the vehicle is slightly broader than the front, once again to assist with aero. There are large, long tail lights and a rear diffuser – although we're not exactly sure it does much!

Step within and the iX3 has an incredibly futuristic style. There's a direct display screen, which stretches across the length of the windshield, showing all essential driving information & essential information you require while driving. On the dash there's a huge infotainment screen which features BMW's brand-new iDrive system, and the cabin is made of soft touch, recycled products. All-in, it's a super nice car to travel in!

The BMW iX3 is equipped with a big 108kWh battery, which benefits a series of approximately 500 miles on a complete charge! It can likewise charge up to 400kW using DC quick battery chargers – this offers you 230 miles of variety in simply 10 minutes!

The iX3 features 2 motors – one on each axel. It features 470hp and 645Nm of torque. That's over 70hp and 60Nm more than the X3 M50!

So what do you think – is this the best SUV BMW has ever made? You'll require to stick to Mat and see for yourself!

    4:35 – I can’t believe car reviews still keep getting this wrong. Drag coefficient is measured relative to the size of a vehicle, so an SUV with the same number as a saloon will still still be more draggy than the saloon and it’s no bigger a feat of engineering to get to that number on an SUV than it is on a saloon.

    1. @Valenturo Avatar
      @Valenturo

      Exactly my thoughts. Drag is determined by drag coeff x frontal area (plus speed and air density of course). SUVs almost always generate higher drag forces. But then you have more room in an SUV to counter the effects of the raised floor in EVs that push your freaking knees up to your face—which is a bigger concern than drag in my books.

    2. @ayushmalpeddi2793 Avatar
      @ayushmalpeddi2793

      technically not true. You are all wrong. it’s not about saloon or crossover, it’s all about frontal area x coefficient of drag = total drag. Something like a Rolls Royce Phantom is considered a “saloon” but it is ginormous and taller than some crossovers and much wider and has a body that goes even lower. It’s frontal area. Not saloon versus crossover. I get you are generalizing that crossovers are larger than saloons on average, but that is not always true!

    3. @SpudNickleson-im7is Avatar
      @SpudNickleson-im7is

      @@ayushmalpeddi2793 that’s being pedantic, it’s pretty obvious what I meant, and I did mention size. The video compared a BMW SUV to a BMW saloon, they weren’t talking about a Rolls Royce.

      @Adam-pt3cb

      @jimmyc7140 I’m. It the person you responded to but the original comment says that the drag coefficient is relative to the size of the vehicle which I don’t believe is true. Total drag is a function of drag coefficient and frontal surface area which leads to a very similar equation but the drag coefficient doesn’t change with vehicle size rather total drag does.
