Tesla Cybertruck v Rivian R1T v F-150 Lightning: 0-60 & 1/4-mile TESTED!

Change your and truck with Carwow:

Which is the exceptional all- truck – the , Rivian R1T, or F-150 Lightning?

Well, Mat had a possibility to all 3 of them, and we're about to find out which he believes is the essential all-!

So let's see how the three compare. Beginning with the design, the is among the most distinctive lorries on the road today – actually nothing looks comparable to it! It's constructed of substantial, tough aluminium body panels, and is covered in difficult angles from the front to the rear that somehow make it look both retro and futuristic at the exact same time!

When it concerns the Rivian, it's a super-stylish little bit of package. It has a reasonably conventional pick-up truck look, however the addition of a cool light bar at the front really helps it stick out. The one we examined here likewise came geared up with an off-road pack that included numerous functions and assisted it look more rugged.

Then finally we have the F-150 Lightning. It definitely looks the most standard of the three automobiles here, looking really comparable to the standard petrol-powered F-150! Still however, if the similarity the Cybertruck are a bit too wild, then the F-150 Lightning might be the option for you.

All three vehicles featured pretty wise interiors. Both the Cybertruck and Rivian keep things simple, with a huge infotainment screen in each utilized to control nearly all functions. The Rivian does have one benefit over the Cybertruck, though, with a digital dial screen in the normal position. The F-150 Lightning has a couple of upgrades over the ICE variation, such as the inclusion of the same screen as in the Mach-E. Otherwise, though, it continues to look very similar to the typical truck.

All three contenders included an option of batteries and motors. The range-topping Cybertruck, nicknamed the 'Cyberbeast', includes three motors and a variety of as much as 320 miles. The dual-motor Rivian 'Max' should deliver up to 410 miles, and the top-of-the-range Ford F-150 features double motors and a variety of as much as 320 miles.

The concern is, which of these would you select?! Let us know in the comments!

    I’ve done a 900 mile trip in a Lightning. It’s a terrific vehicle, but really highlighted to me that electric isn’t always practical. We had to charge ten times due to cold and wind. For comparison I just did an almost identical trip in even worse conditions in my diesel V8 GMC and only stopped for fuel once

    I’ve watched a few videos today of actual consumer cybertrucks being tested – towing, off-road, on-road. It’s buggy and laughably behind the competition, besides the usual straight-line acceleration (one-trick pony). Beaten off-road by a basic Subaru Outback station wagon, losing plastic parts along the way. All that money and you still have to look to the side to see your speed. For me, it’s also the ugliest of the trucks here and will not be for sale in many countries for safety reasons.

      Sadly, a Subaru Outback station wagon isn’t an offroad novice vehicle. They’re actually very capable without modifications. Compare it to something like a 4wd Honda CRV. Which has no business being offroad since it’s a jacked-up Honda Civic at heart.

    4. @WI5EBLOOD Avatar
      @WI5EBLOOD

      Let’s be reasonable, Cybertruck off-road would destroy anything ICE if it was tested with actual off-road tires, all comparisons that I have seen, they are comparing it with a light ICE with off-road tires, which is ridiculous, tire and grip is 80% of off-road performance, cybertruck comes with he smoothest all-season tires ever, not at all suitable for off-road. You forget to mention the steering by wire which makes it so much better it’s on another category of comfort and ease of use, off-road and on-road performance, AND adaptive rear steering for low and high speeds, which makes it a lot safer on the freeway as the rear doesn’t lag behind sudden movements. You forget to mention stainless steel panels, dent-proof, no paint to scratch, and no rust. Also, safest vehicle on a collision money can currently buy. Also, fastest, most widely available charging grid. Sure, I agree looking to the side screen for stats is annoying and it should have a heads-up display, seems hardly a reason to buy any other truck.

    The problem with every single EV reduce clutter in the cabin by moving all the buttons to the screen, actually makes the vehicle more complicated and less intuitive to function!

    1. @neelsinha8407 Avatar
      @neelsinha8407

      If you own one and learn where the buttons are, it’s really not much worse than normal buttons. On a Tesla y at least I know you can hit buttons on and around the steering wheel and it will bring up all the settings on the screen for very easy access. Maybe two clicks 1. Turn on using the button, 2. Decide what level you want it. It’s just like using a modern phone or iPad. There are shortcuts you can pick out easily and there are obviously way more things you can do with a touch screen than with buttons only. If you love buttons then you don’t need to buy these cars, but know that it’s not worse and technically more functional. It’s all just what you get used to.

    The Rivian is the only one I’d even consider. The secret compartment yoinked from The Fall Guy’s truck is 🤌

    Also, the Cybertruck didn’t look futuristic back in the 80s when it was in all of those low-budget Mad Max knock-offs and it doesn’t look any more futuristic now. Mat’s trying to convince himself he’s not being daft for buying one, but sadly he is.

    What’s really mind-boggling is that back in the 80s/90s USA crash safety regulations were spoiling import cars left and right by putting ricockulous massive bumpers on them. Nowadays, despite health and safety being more out-of-control than ever, they’re quite happy to make a stainless steel brick that out-accelerates sports cars and is guaranteed to kill anyone it hits. Go figure.

  13. @marcdeboer1280 Avatar
    @marcdeboer1280

    If the Cybertruck had an ICE it would sell like hot cakes. IMO the Rivian wins, but I’d like to see it compete with the Tesla on the same tires. The Lightning is a far away third place and the other two would just depend on your usage. Issue for me is that the Cybertruck wins on fronts where a diesel or gas powered truck would still be better.

    👀… after F150 Lightning got the conversion to use Tesla Superchargers, I’ll go with the F150. The price is good, less bugs (if so), has everything a first time or average truck person needs, and PRICE!

    Used market is better for the F150 on Vroom, $60k-70k for extended range Lariat with no added dealership fees, and still under warranty.

    On Riving, it’s really annoying if you get a dent on the back side panels. In the body shop in order to remove the panel, they have to remove the sun roof, windshield and disconnect the battery.
