NEW Audi RS3 v cheapest used RS3: DRAG RACE

Change your automobile with Carwow:

Are utilized cars better than new vehicles? Well, we're about to discover!

We have actually got our hands on two vehicles – the all-new, recently upgraded Audi RS3, along with the original Mk1 RS3, and we're about to put them through a series of challenges to see whether you are much better off purchasing utilized over brand-new!

For starters, there's a definitely huge cost difference. The brand-new RS3 has recently gone through a mid-life facelift, and it now features a large cost of over โ‚ค 60,000! In comparison, if you're wanting to buy a Mk1 RS3 in 2025, it'll set you back around โ‚ค 10,000. So the used automobile quickly has the upper hand here!

But if you're in the market for a hot hatch such as this, the most crucial element will, naturally, be power output. The original RS3 was powered by a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo that could produce 340hp and 400Nm. This power was sent to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. And as for the brand-new RS3? Well, under the bonnet, you'll as soon as again discover a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo, although in this instance, it produces 400hp and 500Nm. Similar to the initial RS3, though, power is when again sent to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch.

So the power output may be reasonably similar, but is the old car still as effective as it when was? And when it comes to the design, interior quality and drivability, will the old RS3 have the ability to stay up to date with the brand new Mk3? You'll require to stick to Mat and see on your own!

    The new RS3 is a great car. They just have to go back to their Audi DNA and put back the front RS3 badge, get rid of those new Temu badges, the 80’s truck steering wheel and that nibbler of a gearshifter. Quality matters! The car drives like a dream though. Having said that, I’d take the 8P every day. #speakupforaudi

      Couldnโ€™t agree anymore. The steering wheel is horrendous removing things like the front badge and changing the text of the RS logo only in certain parts of the car and keeping the old text also doesnโ€™t make sense.

      The steering wheel is so bad they shouldโ€™ve made the steering wheel like the carbon edition 8Y first gen but added all the sensors within that design.

      Interior in the UK was a shame for the first gen 8Y but now you can select coloured stitching and more options.

      @x58evo2puma7

      I wouldnโ€™t say it all good the interior not very good and that stupid steering wheel lights looks cheap and the design not that good so I would never pay this amount on this I when I was going for a new car it was between two cars and when I saw this I wasnโ€™t interested getting one so I went for the other one much better interior and design for me

      This new model is full or Audi DNA. I like the new design more than the old one, and the steering wheel is super cool, specially with the race tex material and the red strip at the top. Always people complaining about changes, then just stick to the old models.

    I love this new format, with the mechanics and the explanations, and seeing how age can affect a car, etc. in my country, Spain, we see second hand RS3 with 100,000 miles selling for 25k, would be interesting to bring those cheap RS3s from UK and selling them in Spain because we Spaniards are willing to pay whatever they ask lol.
