No reference to the book of excuses from the racing driver. Still he won…
-
Mat said hell no! 😂
-
The Mustang dropped the stealth anchor
-
In the end, it turns out it’s not the brand that does the braking, but the specific setup and configuration of the car…
-
or… Matt is just not the best at braking 😂
-
it’s mostly tires
-
‘MERICAAA! FK YEAHHH! 🇺🇲🦅💪🏻🎸🎶🤠
-
@Iunos_Manu mean he cant press a brake pedal?
-
Specifically the front/rear weight balance of the car and friction coefficients of the tires. Calipers and rotors are never a limiting factor In a single stop test like this
-
-
the presenter’s ‘no nO no’ was the most genuine reaction i’ve seen all week
-
REF DO SOMETHING!!
-
-
Braking distance usually comes down to tires. Most basic systems can produce enough braking force to lock up a tire, higher performance variants just can handle it multiple times in a row. Slap the same rubber if you really want to distill these tests down to which manufacturer can stop the fastest
-
Very well-worded. I keep on saying this for these braking distance tests, these don’t conclude anything about the actual brakes
-
I’ve always wondered why everyone goes on about how good the brakes are at stopping performance cars, but we have anti lock system because ALL BRAKES LOCK UP.
-
I mean sure, but the tires only handle part of it. The quality of the entire ABS system is much more important than the tires.
-
Thank you for dropping much needed wisdom out here!!
-
@emmanuelmedina2740it absolutely is not. Once you have tires dialed in, followed by suspension/weight configured, then you can worry about which ABS system to use
-
-
All the Americans in the comments: ‘YoU StiLL ThINk OuR cArS doN’t HaNDle good’.
Yeah bud, we don’t. This is a brake test 😂😂😂-
American cars do handle good, but it does usually come down to the driver and how they driver it
-
Didn’t the Mustang GTD Competition become the second fastest production car at the Nurburgring?
-
@s@shovelknight14fully modified car developed by Europeans on slick tyres, big achievement for America
-
@C@ChasWade-g9l they don’t handle well. But I do agree how fast a car goes round a corner is probably 85% driver skill. I know this from personal experience
-
@harrybarr3873You can literally say the same thing to cars like the 911 GT2 RS MR
-
-
No shade on the Shelby ofc, but in a test like this you should swap pads and tires on both cars, to the same kind of pads/tires
-
Defeats the point
-
@Zjx7887avebdunless the cars are brand new, one can be on old end of life tires, and the other on newly swapped sticky R tires. Does that make more sense?
-
@vfr492I get what you’re saying, but your take is one of many factors involved.
There’s limited information in this video, leading commentors to leave biased opinions.
-
too much hassle but they should definitely disclose the tire widths and rubbers used.. 90% of braking performance is really just (rubber * width / car weight)
-
You could swap to any type of rotor or pad and the test result would be the same. It’s all about friction coefficients between the rubber of the tire and the road.
-
-
Imma put it this way Americans love huge trucks so they now hope to build brakes properly
-
Sam’s foot is better than mat’s
-
to be fair i’m pretty sure matt is unable to brake a car seeing that he always loses
-
Trust me it’s not the car it’s Matt
-
The ford litterly down shifting u can hear it
-
That doesn’t slow the car any faster
-
@Widget_Master you’re kidding, right?
-
@Widget_Master yes it does
-
@adeelahmed1319no. 100% serious and correct. Brakes are far more powerful than engine braking. So if you max out your brakes, adding engine braking will do literally NOTHING to slow you faster than just plain brakes.
-
@ohmdoergaming7495downshifting will slow the car on its own, say for extended track use. But if you’re already pressing the brakes to the max (like this video) downshifting at the same time as max brakes will NOT make it slow down any faster than just with the brakes alone.
I drive a manual.

-
Gt350 does brake crazy
-
Sam mister “downshifter” in action 😂
-
makes pretty much no difference in situations like these btw
-
@ianvr5 it actually does though
-
@NuSuntRaresh not really its abs is already fighting the tires to not lock up there is a maximum stopping power
-
@NuSuntRaresh it actually doesn’t tho, but nice try. lemme know if u want me to explain why, or just look it up yourself.
-
@ianvr5 nice try mate, trying to one up me won’t work btw. I won’t even waste my time trying to explain you why it actually does make a difference and will only say that Sam has way more racing experience than both of us combined, and he surely knows how to stop a car the quickest way. Why else would he downshift while braking, and why else would Matt tell him not to do it? Use your brain buddy
-
-
Man awesome job USA. God bless America ig lol 🇺🇸 🦅. General Motors Company and Ford are one of the best automotive companies in the world
-
Can someone please tell Mat to downshift when doing the brake test, in BMWs 😊
-
Are ya new here? The point is to “panic brake” while doing nothing to aid the car in braking.
-
-
BMW engineers watching them critique the brakes: “You are driving ze racecar, use ze gas pedal, ya? Brakes do not bring Freude am Fahren.”
-
Is Sam doing his down shifts again
-
Doesn’t the cs have ceramic brakes??
Gotta heat those puppies up for them to bite correctly
