McLaren Extreme 600 – The Most powerful E-Bike in the WORLD !

So have entered the world of e-bikes with the worlds most effective pedal assist bike. With 600 watts and 191Nm it will definitely load a punch however is it a good bike? I compare it to my Trek Rail and then head into the South Downs to discover some hills!

A huge thanks to my mate Mark from the Drone Safe Shop for helping make this movie incredible!

250w is a sustained figure by law not a maximum.
Many bikes triple that for peak power.

One of the best purchases I have ever made even though I still balk at the purchase price for in essence a push bike. That could have paid for a very good trail motorbike but you don’t get fit on a motorbike. You know that I very nearly purchased a Trek from Paul in Edinburgh but in the end got a Haibike & reckoned I got the bits that were important to me without the Carbon frame i.e. bigger battery & mullet set up. Cheating maybe but for someone who loves cycling off & on road but with knees that are beyond their sell by date it is an ebike or no bike I and am glad I did.
A McLaren ebike yes yes yes a lot of cash but you are paying for the name & why not and for the people who have the kind of cash to afford this it will be a nice trinket for display or the odd run along a trail & why not. I am not sure on the styling of the cockpit but I do like the headlight fitted into the cowl so maybe I could live with it as a necessary evil. Maybe I could sell my bike to the missus and upgrade to this without telling her the price as it is the only McLaren I could ever hope to own or afford..

I’m not into bikes but I’ve noticed some cost about the same as a decent second hand car now 🀯

Thinking about purchasing an e-bike, I thought the bars looked too low, creating a sprint type feel as oppose to chill out more upright feel.
Anyhow great filming shots it like you had a crew filming you. Superb.

Im not actually that knowledgeable on bikes but i enjoyed following the content you did up in Scotland with your dream bike build that had u regularly driving all the way up there with the podcast style update vids. This mclaren ebike is cool as an idea. It was made to see how far can you really go with the ebike. The ultimate ebike on steroids. But even yours is more than enough power than you’d need going uphill.

As both a cyclist and petrol head, I wonder when, not if, that all ebikes will be classed like mopeds and require insurance,CBT etc??
I regularly get passed uphill, whilst in the car, by e-cyclists-usually with a large square insulated back pack on….I wouldn’t mind so much if they were pedaling furiously, but more often than not they aren’t pedaling at all.
Β£11.5k though, for that money I don’t think I would want to pedal!

    1. @PetrolPed Avatar
      @PetrolPed

I doubt they will because they are pedal assist and the is only until 18mph πŸ‘

E-bikes are not cheating, my simple steel framed treader with a 240 motor gets me out and about across the South Downs local roads quite well. The last time I went off roading it took four months for the bruises to go.
    Nice Video by the way.

Sounds to me like those brakes needed bedding in, also surprised to see that they were the same model that’s on my Fuel at a considerably lower price point. Would have expected something a bit more substantial πŸ‘πŸ»

The last time I had and rode a bike, it had a little round chrome bell on the handle bars, mudguards with a little red reflector on the rear guard and had a chain guard, and a little leather saddle bag connected to the seat with a bike spanner inside it, and also hand pump on the frame.

  19. @iforwilliams2509 Avatar

For that price, I’d expect a heater for winter, two wheel drive, abs, mudguards and stabilizers.πŸ˜‚

I bought 2x Trek Rails earlier this year. One for me and the other for my son – loving them so far after doing some Wales and Scotland trail centres πŸ‘πŸ»
Max power from the Bosch CX perf is 600w, in Turbo & eMTB mode. The 250w is the sustained power number, to meet the UK/EU regulations

I saw this McLaren eMTB’s launch earlier this year and they look typical car maker rebranding another e-bike.
Rob Rides (YT e-bike channel) wasn’t too praising of this either .
