I drove the fastest NEW electric cars until they DIED!

It's time for another EV variety test!

We have actually got our hands on three of the most effective EVs that were readily available at the time of recording – the Tesla Model S Plaid, Lotus , and the e-tron GT Efficiency! The concern is, which will go even more?

Well, we're going to put the three to the test as we travel up the M1 freeway. Given these are the efficiency versions of each cars and truck, we'll be driving them in sports mode, although we may switch to range/eco modes when each cars and truck is practically depleted of battery life.

So, how do they compare? Starting with the Tesla, it's powered by a 97 kWh battery and 3 electric motors. These create 1,020 hp, and the cars and truck has a declared series of 364 miles. As new, it costs around ₤ 110,000.

The Lotus has dual motors, and these can produce 918hp. It has a 99kWh battery which is good for a claimed range of 301 miles, and as brand-new it cost ₤ 131,000.

Finally we have the . It also has two motors, as well as a 97kWh battery pack. The motors assist it produce 925hp, and it has actually a declared series of 373 miles. It's the most expensive vehicle in this line-up, starting at ₤ 142,000.

So which will travel the more – the has the biggest claimed variety, however could it be beat by the Tesla or Lotus? You'll have to stick to Mat and the group to see for yourself!

Thanks to ZPN Energy for helping us charge our EVs:

      In Bulgaria most of the cars are older then 20 years. Even the cars above 20 years old dont drop value. I saw a Nisan Micra made in 1997 for 1500 BGN, the average salary per month is 1400 BGN , this is ridiculous. In every normal country people have new car but we keep driving old scrap cars.

      Seriously… You suck Mat, you hardly talk about Chinese EV. There was a huge Auto Event in Shanghai and your team don’t seems to even bother to go there and a review. There are so many great vehicles and innovation coming out from China! Deeply disappointed that your team did not go there to cover such great event. The last time you guys went there was 2 and 6 years ago and that’s only covering what? A fucking Lexus Alphard?!?! What a shitty boring and uninspiring content!!

    I remember when there was hell on when petrols/diesels were being advertised as achieving about 15-20% higher range than they could do without hypermiling, but 64-69% of claimed range should be illegal to advertise those misleading figures.

    God help that Lotus in winter 😬

    1. @jorehir Avatar
      @jorehir

      Claimed ranges can actually be achieved in WLTP conditions. It’s not their fault if you only do highway speed and such. In urban areas, you can actually do MORE miles than claimed.

      So there’s nothing wrong with those ranges. It’s not for everyone, but the customer just needs to use his brain when interpreting those numbers.
