We've got our hands on the BMW M3 CS Touring, and it's taking on Mat's long-lasting BMW M5 Touring test cars and truck!

The concern is, how different are these two long-bodied BMWs? Let's have a look at the statistics …

The BMW M5 Touring houses a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, combined with an electrical motor. The 2 integrate to produce 727hp and 1,000 Nm, and this power is sent to all 4 wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. All in it costs from ₤ 116,160, and it's exceptionally heavy, tipping the scales at 2,475 kg!

Then we concern the M3 CS Touring. Under the bonnet, it 'only' has a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six, and this produces 550hp and 650Nm. Power is as soon as again sent out to all 4 wheels via an 8-speed automated gearbox, and it costs nearly the same as the M5, costing ₤ 120,600. However, it's a great deal lighter than the M5, weighing in at 1,850 kg.

So the M5 has more power, and an electrical motor – but it weighs almost 650kg more than the M3! Can you pick a winner? There's only one way to find out for sure … LET'S RACE!

      How about you consider that Merc and Audi don’t have a V8 Version of their E Class and RS6?
      BMW was the only one to commit to keeping the V8 alive and because of EU laws they had to hybridise it.
      But look at it this way, because the hybrid V8 cars are measured at such low emissions, they also allow bmw to keep producing non PHEV M3, unlike audi with the RS4 and merc with the C63 e

      Bmw ecu is very ii hard to remap, my g83 m4 took me 8000 dollars just to remap 😢😢😢, other mods cost me 12k dollar, total 20k and now my car have 900hp and 1200 nm torque quarter mile in 9.4s 🔥🔥🔥

      The battery should do it’s work from zero RPM. Ie it should be faster most of the time in the real world which is not full throttle near the red line.

      the weight difference is too big. The M3 has better weight/hp ratio than the M5. Especially as they accelerate which makes an object heavier.

      You have absolutely no knowledge about the engineering of cars if you think 1800 kg is heavy for a modern all weel drive high performance estate with a big six cylinder engine. I‘m sorry, but believeinh it should be a lot lighter is just absurd. You have to fulfill emission regulations, safety regulation, put in all the tech for assistance and entertainment and so on …
