Ferrari 458 Speciale v Audi RS7 Performance: DRAG RACE

Can an Audi Performance remove a Speciale over the 1/4-mile? Well, it's time to learn!

Let's see how the two compare. Beginning with the Ferrari, it's powered by a 4.5-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can produce 605hp and 540Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it weighs around 1,395 kg. As new in 2015, this cars and truck would have set you back around ₤ 208,000.

As for the , it's powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can produce 630hp and 850Nm. This power is sent out to all four wheels by means of an 8-speed automated gearbox, and the automobile weighs in at 2,065 kg. It's a reasonable bit less expensive than the Ferrari, costing around ₤ 133,000.

Believe it may be an easy win for the RS7? Well, we have actually got another vehicle lined up to break the Ferrari if it can't beat the RS7 … An all-new ! This is powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo that produces 333hp and 420Nm. This sends power to all 4 wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,610 kg. As new, this cars and truck only costs ₤ 48,000.

      Isnt the quickest car by all means but is fun to drive and is my pride and joy.

      Hmm, these drag races and braking tests are not eligible, because cars are on different tyres. This just shows how much more grippier the audi’s tyres were, on the other hand Ferrari has stiffer suspension and that usually results in not so good braking compared to soft susp.

    Not just for this comparison, But for the brake test in all of them I would like to see you have your timing setup in all the cars and know exactly the distance they stopped in, Not who may of hit the brakes a tick before or after the line. There is no way the cars all start braking at the same time. It will be interesting to see when cars look like they won or lost, But the actual gps measured distance changes the outcome.

    Hello,
    I might be mistaken, but the reason for the difference in braking performance between those cars, most likely is:
    Ferrari has: Michelin Cup 2 in widths = 245 (front), 305 (rear)
    Audi has: Continental Sport Contact 7 in widths = 285 (front), 285 (rear)
    So because Cup 2’s on Ferrari need additional heat buildup for optimal performance, the main reason is that Audi has wider section tires on the front. Front tires contribute to most of the deceleration, when weight shifts to the front, so Audi has advantage in the contact patch during this process.

      One thing I might add to that and I hope I explain it properly. We know that when emergebraking the car automatically downshifts (if auto trans) where each shift to a lower gear helps slow the vehicle as well. Being awd I would think that each downshift would be 2 ti.es more effective than a rear wheel drive with front wheels basically running freely. I hope that makes sense. Lol

      Both wrong. Audi has front engine so more weight over the front so more grip for braking with weight transfer. Ferrari is mid so there isnt weight transfer so less grip in the front. Front is what has the most braking force. Tires matter a little but engine weight transfer does more. Also soft suspension means more weight put on front axle
