Those claimed ranges feel more like best case dreams than real driving!

If i’m not wrong, the ads says “up to XXX miles range” so it’s not really lies

How the range is calculated is mandated by the government. Also petrol cars use the same test, no-one gets the claimed MPG so the claimed range from them either.

These cycles are more of a comparison between the cars than a real world range

Are these RWD/FWD or AWD because that could explain the range figures? I suppose they all are AWD.

I was forced to rent an ev on holiday. They promised me it had 400km range. Turns out jt could only manage about 220 💀

    Never again.

My hatchback back do double the range of most of these cars lol

My hybrid sedan can do double the range of my EV on a good day. However, it took an eye watering $53 just to get 500 miles of ICE range. While my EV can do 250 miles, it only takes $10, or in other words, $33 cheaper to go the same distance with an EV.

Also my Hybrid and EV are both very close in price by $1k, and the kicker is my Hybrid is the expensive one at $32k in 2011 money. My EV was $31k last year.

Same for gasoline or any car. Its called physics and a bit of unrealistic norms

No it isnt. My 3.0 diseal Jaguar has a range of 525 miles and I get about 480miles at 75 to 80mph. Electric cars cannot do that. My ‘old’ BMW i4 had a range of 280 but it never got above 190.

Combustion cars also never meet their real consumption figures/ranges but we just accepted that somehow

Uhhh, ya they do. That’s just morons that think the highway number is what they’re supposed to get. I actually do better than claimed combined mileage on 2 of my cars…

Sigh. WLTP ranges are measured at different cycles, its a combination of city driving, slower extra urban roads and highway (also some stationary “red light” sprinkled in) at 23C.

Ofcourse if you do highway only or in cold/wet weather it goes down. Also, if you only do citry driving or the extra urban roads (70-90km/h limit), you can easily beat the WLTP range.

Just going 130kmh vs 110kmh will eat away upto 20-30% of your range.

Your driving scenario AND driving style matters.

Should have started the video saying you were presenting the WORST CASE SCENARIO for attention. But really most of the time they get more range.

Drove at a steady, but not stupidly slow , pace in my 3 year old model y and was showing 233wh/mile so over 4 miles/Kwh
