The S1 wasn’t designed for top speed as in rally stages it’s all about acceleration then completing the stage in the shortest time over mainly very rough forestry tracks. Like to see the R8 attempt a stage without breaking.

What most people fail to see is how good the R8 (or modern technology) did. The R8 has around 620hp and weighs about 1700kg. The Quattro S1 has around 600hp, but weighs around 1000kg. Almost 700kg and only around 20hp of difference and it was basically a tie

😂😂😂 2,5 lit 5 cyl VS 5.2 lit 10 cyl…5 speed manual short gear ratio VS 7 speed automatic with a top end over 300 km/h…and it wasn’t a tie!! The R8 is crap toy.

@AB.STIbugeye.5GTturbo. You basically proved my point, but completely ignored the massive 700kg gap between the 2. Both machines built for completely different things and yet, like I said, BASICALLY a tie. 0.1 second behind, the R8.
