    If government giving something for free, it means you don’t need it, they need it.

      Welfare? Healthcare? Your government literally works by providing free services

      Is this why everyone’s driving 25 plate vehicles? EV sales have increase by 26% in 2025

      @brianmcintyre14

      @@loluser41 Since when is everyone driving 25 plate cars? & lots of cars on finance does not indicate a healthy financial position. Few people have the money to buy anything significant out right and own it.

      @@brianmcintyre14Around me dealers are bursting of sales and don’t even have time to do test deives. New EV’s are being pre-ordered without even stepping foot in a dealership. Sure, probably most are on finance, but this just means people have enough to spare on a lease. I think the government is in the right to subsidy the purchase of economically better EV’s

      that’s why they “qualify” certain people to launder money stolen from you, in a way that “people gets free money from goverment”. I meantime we already paid way more money (like everyone not 1 in a 200) than possible grand to get

      @@loluser41 they increased because thats what most cars are now days. they removed choice and there are less choice of cars overall. everything is ev rubbish. more people are buying used than ever.

    I love how you broke down the EV grants! It’s crazy to think that with £650 million, we’re looking at just one grant for every 200 drivers 🙈

    1. @ollyrukes Avatar
      @ollyrukes

      Well yeah, it’s only on new cars, so how many people do you think buy a new car every year?
      The pub analogy doesn’t really work because in a pub basically everybody buys multiple ‘brand new’ drinks. Whereas most people don’t buy brand new cars, and even those that do aren’t doing it every year.

    Do people not understand that oil companies and legacy automotive companies have been given literally trillions over the decades by the government? Oil companies continue to take in vast sums in the form of tax breaks and grants.
    These tiny EV grants are a drop in the bucket.

    What a monumental waste of money. If you can afford £35k on a car you can afford £37k. And if you can’t afford either then ffs buy second hand.

    It would be kinda ok if maybe it was limited to cars built in the UK so there was circular economic benefit.

    I’ve got a 3 1/2 year old hybrid Evoke and it’s just cost JLR £13k for a new battery and complimentary car hire. It’s hardly ever been ‘fast charged’ and my wife is the main driver and she is the stereotypical lady driver. We need to keep it as the trade in value is terrible for a 37k mileage car. It’s back to ICE asap for us.
