It's time for a vs drag race!

We've got Mat in the current edition of the Competition, and he's taking on the Turbo e-hybrid GT Package! The question is, can the BMW take down the more effective ? Let's take a closer look.

The Porsche is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with an electric motor. Integrated they produce 739hp and 950Nm, with this power sent out to all 4 wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. It suggestions the scales at a substantial 2,495 kg, and as new it costs ₤ 166,000.

The BMW is powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six, and this puts down 530hp and 650Nm. Power is sent to all 4 wheels by means of an 8-speed auto, and it weighs 1,775 kg. As new, it costs ₤ 91,000.

So the Porsche is well up on power, but it's also well up on weight! Will that prove decisive? There's only one method to learn … LET'S RACE!

      But WHY don’t you set suspension at porsche on the hardest mode possible, because that car loose only by aero, only by that “cartoon shark attack” high nose position which drives a lot of bad air underneath, lifting more and more the front of the car.

      It looks like the rear squat gets stronger when that rear spoiler deploys. So maybe it’s just the massive down force from the aero pushing down on the rear suspension.

    The current M3/M4 never ceases to amaze me. And that engine; it’s so strong from any gear at any revs, almost like it’s got an electric motor for ‘torque fill’. Some Hypercars and supercars aside, it’s S58 engine must surely rank as the finest engine in production. I rate this engine over a 911 Turbo and GTS and even the Ferrari 296’s for example.

    The E46 may well be the sweeter car to drive, but as an overall package the G80 is probably the finest M3/4 ever, and may even be the best M-car made. The G80 is quite simply brilliant and reaffirms BMW M as the finest in-house performance brand by far and the G80 M3/4 is easily the best all-round car you can buy right now if you’re looking for that level of performance.

      Can’t argue there. The S58 is simply an astonishing engine. Add a JB4 and another 100 hp is easily tapped to make a supercar killer. Plus, in U.S., the Porsche is double the price of the BMW.

      Just because it was built to win drag on YouTube? What are you, 12? Please..the moment they put 4WD on it is the moment it seized being a proper BMW. And by the way..M4 is just 2 gen old including this one. So much heritage…one cannot decide which is the finest.
      The only car worth “the finest” title is 1982 Audi Quattro: 4WD turbocharged beast. Now they are basically all Audis.
      And as if that wasn’t enough, they made them soo easy to drive that even grandma can win a drag race and doing it while keeping one hand on the wheel and wave you with the other. Can’t wait the next finest M4..the first car that launches AND finishes 1/4 mile all by itself. 😂

      The G80 is great but I have to give the win personally to the E92 M3 if all generations are included. It was the first M3 to feel really fast and the V8 revving close to 8500 was such a peach to drive. I had mine for 5 years.
      Also the E92 is the best looking M3 for me but I have to admit the new M3 CS looks incredible, too.

      @@cranialnervdo these models have the 48v active suspension? Wondering if it’s an intentional characteristic under full acceleration to prevent any potential of the rear losing traction and being able to soak up road imperfections to give the driver confidence and stability.

    My dad just got a Comp xdrive, it’s an absolute beast. Almost too fast to use on regular roads in America. The fact that in this video it’s actually pulling on a 740hp Porsche at speed is insane. Love that it’s not a PHEV like so many performance vehicles are becoming these days.

    Porsche delivers 296.2 hp per ton and 380.8 Nm per ton, while the BMW achieves 298 hp per ton and 366.2 Nm per ton.

    It’s mind-blowing how the BMW pulls from a roll using only an internal combustion engine — with absolutely no turbo lag. The S58 engine is a true masterpiece
