We have actually got Mat in the latest M4 CS, and he's going up against the M8 Competitors! Let's take a more detailed look at these competitors …

Starting with the M4 CS, it's powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that delivers 550hp and 650Nm. Power is sent out to all 4 wheels by means of an 8-speed automobile, and it ideas the scales at 1,760 kg. As brand-new, it costs ₤ 117,000.

The M8 Competition is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this puts down 625hp and 750Nm. Similar to the M4, power is sent out to all four wheels via an 8-speed vehicle, and it weighs in at 1,975 kg. A new one of these will set you back ₤ 137,000.

So the M8 is up on power, but it's also a couple of years older than the M4! Will the age difference matter? There's just one method to find out … LET'S RACE!

    The M8 was hopping during the launch, suggesting that the suspension was likely too stiff. This caused the car’s systems to overcorrect. Leaving the suspension in ‘Comfort’ mode might have provided better traction during the launch.
