How's this for a RWD drag race?!
We have actually got Mat lining up in a traditional Mk4 Supra, and he's facing off versus Jodie Kidd in a G80 BMW M3!
Think this one will be a walkover for the BMW? Well, guess again! You see, although the Supra still has the very same 2JZ 3-litre engine under the bonnet as when it was launched in 1997, it's had a little work done to it. It's switched 2 turbos for one much larger one, and as a result this JDM timeless now pumps out 708hp and 709Nm! What's more, it's likewise fitted with a brand-new gearbox – the very same 8-speed auto gearbox as found in the G80 M3!
In contrast, the G80 features a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet, but it can 'only' put down 510hp and 650Nm! Sure it may be much more recent and come with launch control, but it's also heavier than the Supra, tipping the scales at 1,730 kg. In contrast, the Supra weighs in at 1,490 kg.
So what do you believe – is the Supra going to smash it ?! Or is it not going to have the ability to handle that much power through its rear wheels? There's just one method to discover for sure … LET'S RACE!
