Cupra is the best brand in the VW Group, definitely most fun, aiming at young audiences, love it

By the time it comes to market, there’ll be a 9 followed by three zeros after the hyped price.

We really don’t need another overpriced EV.

Overpriced at £21K ? Not really.

@@stevenjones916it’s between 25.000 and 30.000€. For a car the size of a Polo.
A Dacia Sandero is bigger and is half that price.
For that kind of money I can get a mid size SUV with ICE.
      It is overpriced.

No one needs another Seat, Audi or Skoda, or whatever flavour of dress drapes these skateboard VW/Ford chassis. Give us differing vehicles with a purpose and leave the hangover of nation-state works cars to history. If it’s a brand exercise, most kids love a Polo, most parents a Golf or Passat and most alpha aggressive folk (divorced from common sense) Cupra and Audi performance cars. Where are the commercial vehicles? Just a Buzz or hybrid Transit just won’t cut it. Cheap small cars, medium family, fast performance and utility based on all of those platforms sharing common parts and servicing.
Time to rationalise consumerism and improve the quality.

I drive my (2nd) Skoda Yeti. It’s just… Yeti. Can be recognised anywhere, and driven anywhere. Oozes character. Wouldn’t be able to do that with a new Skoda, irrespective of whether it’s an eV or not. Still clever, but not what made Skoda distinctive from VW Group carbon copies.
For the tastes of a more mature guy, I have to say great bodywork btw….

If they change Infortaintment software away from their current one, to Android Automotive, its an instant buy for me

Nah let’s scrap electric and go to hydrogen much better and can convert current cars to it

    1. @danshillabeer9523 Avatar
      @danshillabeer9523

Clearly you don’t understand either the engineering or economics of hydrogen. It takes 9 kWh of electricity in a hydrogen car to provide the same energy as 1 kWh of battery electric power in an eV. That’s if you can find a charging station (hint: nope). Plus the stuff boils off from your 7000 psi fuel tank. Plus it’s horrendously complicated and expensive to move and store. Plus hydrogen uses fuel cells, not direct combustion.
Hydrogen’s only use is to suck up subsidies and delay eV adoption. Feel free to prove me wrong by pointing to a successful hydrogen-for-road-transport project…

This is what we need small affordable (well to what we have been getting everything seemed to be £40k plus) Hatch cars that are interesting. Renault said it’s new process and battery tech could see them saving between 30-40% costs on future Cars so I see no problem with them lowering prices further when competition hots up. If you could get a £22k R5 iconic larger pack split new it would be on the drive already. But really if this comes in close to under £22k – well done! 👏

Looking forward to the R@ve@l although I cannot believe the desirable versions will be less than the Renault 5. Could though make the Alpine A290 look very expensive.

Coming to a showroom near you – sometime in the future but don’t hold your breath and your probably not going to hold off till then. VW should be changed to VLW – very long wait

Ooh, a VZ could be fun. Although it would be up against the Ioniq 3 N to be the competition for my choice.

I test drove the latest Cupra cars and have to say quality is really weak. They make something on design but cut corners on interior quality
