    Yes, there are better options available.
    BYD should be undercutting Tesla by at least 10% to be competitive. At least!

      They are in most markets, I think its down to the tariffs and the markup the importers want for it. But even at the same price, have driven both – I now own a SL7 and I don’t regret a thing. 🙂

      In HK, the AWD design cost just equivalent of £42000!😅

      Edit: if you got a banger in for partex, the BYD will cost you only £30k

      Tried both. And many other Chinese brands. Nothing comes closes to the Y at that price pont. The only BYD that can actually compete with the new Y is the Han L and Tang L. And their Denza cars.

    As a SL7 owner now for around 2 weeks, there are a few mis-informations in this video. Most alerts can be disabled and the ones that by law comes back can be turned down with a swipe from the main display – no need to go into settings. The climate control can also be adjusted by 3 finger swipes on the main screen at any given time or screen (swipe sideways for intensity, and up/down for temps). I testdrove most if not all competitors in that segment and pricerange, and the SL7 is maybe not the best EV, but by far the best car as a package of all of them.

    1. @dogdog5434 Avatar
      @dogdog5434

      Nah. Have tried both the Y and the Sealion and the Y is better in every single way. The only BYD that competes with the new Y is the tang L and the Han L.

      @ Everyone has preferences, I testdrove the new Y and the ride feeling is still way to rough compared to the SL7 and the Nissan Arya, both have a mercedes like smoothness. “Every single way” is a big claim. lmao

      @markuslc1888

      i am extremely into comfort when it comes to suspension settings, since where i live, streets are extremely bumby and the model y is doing a fantastic job there, the SL7 is also good, but the seal u is even better. i really like the SL7, the design, the interior it’s very spacious! the dynaudio soundsystem is unfortunately very dull, even with maxed out treble in the EQ settings, the tesla soundsystem is way better. apart from that it’s a matter of taste, i like the design of the BYD more, inside and outside, warranty is better than with tesla. tesla has supercharger, matrix led and more boot space. they are very similar and both are a good choice, but since elon got completely mad, insurance did skyrocket and price stability is more or less dead. so currently i would rather go with the SL7.

    I have a Sealion 7 Performance and I love it! Re the rotating screen, I actually do use it a lot. I use the built-in navigation since it’s Google based anyway, and with the screen in portrait layout navigation is better as you get to see more of what lies ahead. Also here in Australia we get a local tune for the suspension, it’s not wallowy like other markets. It feels a bit like BMW but a tiny bit softer. Very nice! And the bonging etc. is very customisable – you can turn those warnings off and they stay off. And you do that when you’re stationery, duh.

    @JayWalker

    How she sat in the BYD boot compared to how they then sat in the Tesla boot was a bit sus 😉 They were sat right back in the BYD so knees were on the lip, but on the tesla sat forward.. Yeh i get it, that the BYD is higher up, but at least sit the same.. lol Nitpicker time

  12. @mahonjt Avatar
    @mahonjt

    I use the screen rotation for portrait sat nav, and when my son uses it for his music, I can still have sat nav up high using the split screen also. It is excellent.

    As others above have said, there are a range of other errors about the cars functionality in this video. Was the same with your SEAL video where, if you had read the comments you will have seen others correct you about the screen rotation and its use cases.

    The Swasticar is just a lazy refresh.

    1. @tonypaca3015 Avatar
      @tonypaca3015

      Efficiency claims and peak charge rates are irrelevant. BYD will always go further and charge faster due to better charge curves and a larger battery, making their mileage estimates almost always more accurate compared to smaller batteries. I’m tired of seeing videos where Tesla is presented as the most efficient, only to achieve 270 miles instead of their claimed 330.

    Bit of confusion on the video.
    The MY RWD has an LFP battery.
    The Launch MY has the performance boost as standard so is A LOT quicker than 5 seconds to 60mph.
    There is also an incredibly small options list for the MY.

    I enjoyed the video though. Ginny and Batch are a good pairing

    Tesla’s “dip in Sales” is because of the new model Y being waited on so buyers were not buying the old one and waiting on release of the new one and not the Launch edition but the Long Range and Rear Wheel Drive variants coming soon so Quarters 2 and 3 will be the real numbers.
    No you can’t get V2L 3rd party kit for Tesla’s as their onboard charger isn’t yet configured for it. Although the Cybertruck is and can

      No emotional nonsense stuff with 100 designs and 150 options.
      Indeed a few core models and make them the best the world has ever seen.
      Then focus on a good reliable charge network en full self driving so that you don’t need your own car anymore when living a city life.

Tesla has brand amongst 330 million Americans (most of them can’t afford it). The world has 8 billion people and the miniscule who can afford BYD is orders of magnitude larger. BTW nobody likes MAGA. I test drove the new Model Y today, in Norwich (15 April , I think it was the same car as in the video), and was so impressed with the improvement over my MY 2022 LR AWD which I collected at the launch event in Southampton. Night and day overall, new front and rear, ride quality, noise reduction, improved interior/seats, improved camera and display ….. etc.. I didn’t know until the last few days that Tesla will “update/improve ” the original suspension under warranty. However, since my new MY RWD LR should be available in the next few weeks I will probably not bother. No brainer against the BYD.
