Real charge time might differ depending upon the lorry, age, type, condition and temperature level of the charger and battery, the level of charge in the battery, the power supply, ambient temperature level at the point of usage and other factors. The availability of ultra-rapid chargers is presently limited to UK freeways and significant arterial paths (not readily available in NI and leaves out the majority of Wales/Scotland).

It’ll always amaze me that people think 300 miles isn’t enough range for a car to be useable.
Most people only do maybe 100-150 miles a week, so they’re never going to have a problem. Even people who do somehow do 300 miles a day could still probably charge at home 90% of the time – even at an expensive public charger, you can still just “stick a tenner in” to get you home.
EV range is only increasing. Normal humans aren’t going to be doing 3-4 hours of driving without needing at least a small break.
Soon enough we’ll have 1200V architecture and megawatt-class charging. Who cares if it ‘only’ does 300 miles when it can recharge as quickly as filling a fuel tank.
I care. The cost of public charging negates the advantages of having an EV. Oh and often the public chargers are fully occupied.
I have an EV but I’m not going to get into public charging
@DaveSHarris If you have to use public chargers at all, it’s only going to be for a few extra miles to get you back home after a very long journey.
People who actually drive many hundreds of miles in one stint shouldn’t buy EVs (but there aren’t many real people like that).
Only petrolheads think like that! Can’t change. They won’t change. Always searching for reasons for not buying an EV! Don’t care about themmmmmm….. I like both my cars! EV and LPG V8!

Living in Czech Rep it takes me 5 min. No EV is good for me yet.
In an 800v car, there’s only time for the loo break, forget ordering the coffee, as the car would have likely already charged to over 80% in ten minutes, adding 150 miles.
Yep – mine is always charged before I’ve finished my cuppa!
Most of stops like this one we actually have to rush it because of idle fees.

Spot on, Nicola. I keep telling this to EV naysayers and they refuse to believe it. My EV charges to 80% on roadtrips in an average of 14 minutes —barely enough time to visit the loo!

I would have sat down for my cup of tea. So I’d have needed a slower charger.
To use super fast charging in most places it will cost a fortune.
UNTILL THE UK CHARGING NETWORK CATCHES UP WITH OTHER COUNTRIES LETS JUST FRANCE FOR THE COST LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO DONT LIVE IN LOW EMISSION AREAS JUST WONT BOTHER.
MAKING ROAD TAX MORE EXPENSIVE WONT WORK.
PEOPLE WILL JUST PUSH BACK AGAINST THE WHOLE CHANGE.
IF COVENANT FAST CHARGING WAS CHEAP YOU WILL SEE JUST HOW QUICK THE CHANGE WOULD BE.
