I find all modern cars harder to “operate”, EV or no. Tesla is piss easy of course. My Kia EV3 is way more complicated than it needs to be. I rented a 2021 Citroën C3 last week and it was refreshingly simple.

Yep, my EV is soooo easy to drive, it’s a joy. Similar to any modern automatic really, put it into drive, then until you reach your destination, it’s just break at the lights, etc, back on the accelerator to go, and repeat. With auto-hold there’s no need to even worry about using the handbrake either. I’ve jokingly asked my non-driving family members if they want a go, its so simple now.

EV is so much easier to drive. It’s so much better than an automatic too, no weird sudden loss of acceleration as it cha ges gear. Just smooth acceleration all the way to your desired speed

Like the way you pronounced Skoda properly. Bit of a tight line to the next car on the way out, I thought but that’s not on you; on the prior parkers. And you I have never taken a tight line on anything, being an ex 911 driver 😉

FYI in the UK they originally pronounced it as “Skoda”.

yes driving them is easy, the thing people struggle with is charging and planning journeys. I personally have no problem with it but many do as it’s a different mindset to putting fuel in.

This is what I was thinking. Driving is easy, charging out and about is difficult.
I’m tech savvy, I use Electroverse and plug n charge ect. but the average person will get confused with all this complexity.
It’s also complex to work out optimal routing. When you want to charge and how long did depends specifically on your cars charge curve.

My mom works at a Ford dealership and when taking one of the Mach-E’s out thought something was wrong with it because it was slowing down on it’s own approaching a stop. So like… the logical outcome is a car should keep flying along on it’s own after releasing the accelerator? I would say an internal combustion vehicle is complicated to operate tbh.

Had to drive my mams manual diesel today and after not driving a manual for 4 month it felt needlessly more complex tbh. It really made me look forward to getting back in my Tesla. The high dashboard also just seemed odd too after the Tesla. I have been spoilt 🤣

Try to drive a manual in a car traffic jam for longer than 30 minutes off your life. That’s freaking annoying!
If you used to drive an EV with autonomous level 2, it’s not a real problem anymore… 😂

Might there be some uncertainty about the whole charging experience, and the tendency for manufacturers to force the driver everything via touchscreens/haptics. My dad (70+) dont even want to try to drive my ID.4 as he is afraid he will break something.

As a fairly recent right below knee amputee I have found driving a hyundai kona EV, much easier than expected, using hand controls. Cruise control is a god send. Thanks to Electrifying for the guidance in choosing my first EV.

I love automatic cars . I just had my first automatic car switching from driving only manual gear boxes and what a difference on long or short road trips. It’s certainly the way forward. I have a mild hybrid Volvo petrol not an EV but that’s something I could consider in the future . But just now I can’t charge at home I would have to had converted the back garden into a driveway. I would lose my greenhouse because I love to grow stuff .

I have been driving for over 50 years and my EV is the easiest & safest car that I have ever driven by far 👍
