    BEVs are the perfect powertrain for a Hot Hatch & Hyper Hatch. The best reason is Rear Motor RWD ONLY has no major cost difference. Combine it with a Hand Brake to be extra Boy Racer. Add ontop all the other inherent benefits of BEV like big torque, stronger chassis and more space for bulky advance suspension geometry. Sadly both those two niches combined is a very small audience and Automakers simply do not want to do it. The closest thing is Cupra Born VZ, & Renault 5 Turbo 3E. This GSE sadly is wrong wheel drive.

      Sure but this is based on the normal model, swapping engine + etc would increase the production cost.
      They didn’t even put a proper (rear) suspension.

    Finally a proper low-slung EV hot hatch! Having the batteries under the seats does wonder for the overall height and centre of gravity of this car. That powertrain, including the LSD and the Alcon brakes, is a peach too. 🎉

    Ok this new Corsa GSE electric from Opel looks like a proper new barrier setter for electric hot hatch class, looks like it will be much more pottant than Alpine A290, Cupra Raval, Abarth 600e,…
    The performance with over 270 bhp is proper for this small hatchback, and if Opel did enough on suspension and handling it will be a blast to drive, and it makes me excited to see what Hyundai and their N division will bring to the table of small electric hot hatches – HOPE TO SEE IONI1 3N being a proper rally/road AWD electric super hatch completion to something like Toyota GR Yaris, Golf R, ..

    They are certainly getting there. It’ll be interesting to see how the same vehicle would react to having one of those new-type CATL batteries that Victoria just showed us, from the Beijing Motor Show, providing double the range for half the weight… Now that would really be something to make a note of.
