    If at all, cars like this should be subsidized by governments, not those €100,000 3-tons electric mastodons.

      UK should have a rule like the Japanese Kei vehicles rules. Then,as a kei driver, I would say that.

      Cars like this being small, light affordable electrics, but don’t be pulling your leg thinking subsidizing combustion is any solution

    If Dacia can create a small electric city car, I’m sure that Kia could do the same thing for a very similar price!!

    At those prices Kia should just offer the turbo engine as standard. Stay clear of the automated manual option if still available as near impossible to drive smoothly

      @stevenham1937

      As a company that offers a 7 year warranty I’d guess there’s a reason for ditching a little engine with a turbo bolted to it. I know used car dealers talk of the issues they face with them from many manufacturers

      @markrhodes3983

      I have had a amt for nearly one year it takes time to learn it is smooth enough. Remember kia are not a luxury car. But a good alternative to Minis. I definitely prefer Kia to the German alternative.

    Do tariffs or taxes come into play here. I bought a brand new Suzuki Swift Sport a couple of years ago for under £16000 in New Zealand which tootles around town but has plenty of go on the open road. I do like small practical cars that are perfect for 90% of motoring needs and adequate for the other 10%.

  7. @stevenham1937 Avatar
    @stevenham1937

    If I was offering a 7 year 100k warranty as standard I probably wouldn’t want to be selling a 1L turbo either to be honest.

    They never should have gotten rid of the 1.0 turbo, this will be a major turn off for many buyers. Better order that Dacia Spring instead …..

    For a city car, independent of low engine power and poor 0-60mph numbers, it’s a good option. Its shape looks good (has a futuristic design) e looks comfortable, could be a good start as first car for anyone.

    1. @stephen546 Avatar
      @stephen546

      Poor 0-60 numbers…not really. Only a few years ago this was the norm for pretty much every car. What’s this obsession with getting to 60 MPH as far as possible

      I don’t miss tiny Euro city cars at all especially considering how much you are in your car in the United States.
      Plenty of room and good power are very nice.
      In Germany, I drive an Opel Astra but in the United States I drive a Toyota Camry and I can tell you that when my wife and I took a trip through the Western States the Toyota was much more comfortable than the Astra would have been.

    Considering that KIA is fond of selling posh behemoths like the EV6, it’s behind disappointing that the Picanto has zero electric or even hybrid option. Hell, the kei car RAVEV has been built in South Korea for a.decade now.

    Demonstrating the amount of room in the rear seat becomes pointless if you don’t know the height of the tester. I am sure you have told the viewers this in some earlier episode but those of us who watch a lot of car reviews really can’t remember the height of everyone. Please display the height of the tester on screen when you demonstrate rear seats, thank you.
