    How does that middle rear seat headroom pass euro ncap? Tall teenagers IRL may hit that in an accident.
    Love this car though. Great big proper chunky SUV

    What’s so hard about designing simple things like rear headroom in a big car?
    It’s obviously as hard as rocket science for the designers of the Honda civic.

    What has happened to the size of cars when we all used to drive superminis ?
    No wonder we have so much congestion. With a starting price of £46000 it aint cheap either.

    I have the smaller ZR-V and i don’t see much difference in quality in the CR-V. The switchgear is all the same as well as the infotainment and the steering wheel. Also the spec on my ZR-V advance is nearly identical! And we get 50mpg easily and 7-8 sec to 60 mph using exactly the same 2.0l hybrid engine. So all you get for the £5k extra is a much bigger boot on the CR-V.

    Honda’s pricing strategy is disappointing; they are selling the same car in China for about 30% of the price it costs in the UK.

      This new CR-V is also built in China so that makes that difference seem even more stark

      They’ve gone the same way as Toyota, unfortunately. Overpriced.

    Was looking at one of these in a dealer. Love the new design language, but the Bonnet to Windscreen length was just too long. A bit like parking a Transit van for length. The infotainment display is poorly laid out and of poor quality for such a pricey car.

  11. @maff257 Avatar
    @maff257

    This is doomed to fail unfortunately because of the pricing. This was one of their best selling cars in the previous generation but making the middle ground more crowded by introducing the ZR-V (US HR-V) when they already had the HR-V was in my view a mistake. If they hadn’t introduced that the CR-V would be priced where the ZR-V is in the range, which would be the correct price level for this car.

    Im from nz and drive a previous edition Crv 2nd hand. Same as the UK (and Aust) new Hondas are just way too expensive for what you get when compared to other comparable brands. All those so called premium features are typically standard features in other premium brands and honda argues that you are getting a higher quality product (hence charging you so much) . Apparently I was told by an Aust car reviewer that Honda’s strategy is profit margin first quantity second I.e they want themselves to be seen as a premium brand so they can get a bigger profit in each car they sell, rather than getting many sells with a lower profit margin (e.g Toyota?) Interesting strategy but I personally think they are a bit overconfident in their own legacy. They are way overpriced for what you get and no way they are at the level of other premium brands. People who buy them new are either through a business or is a die hard Honda fan. I just can’t see how they are value for money.
    However I think when they are 2nd hand, they are a lot more affordable and value for money coz you will get all these “premium” features that you can’t get from other brands at that discounted 2nd hand price.

    Just put a hybrid Elegance model on the road for circa £40k so ignore the list prices. Deal also includes a 5 year warranty and 5 years servicing so given I was offered an equivalent Tuscon or Sportage for about £40/month less excluding servicing it’s not such a bad deal. The car is also noticeably bigger and more spacious than those other two cars. Works for me

      Sportage, Kuga, Tuscon, X Turd, Tigturd, RAV4, NX, CX5 – all are significantly smaller than this all new CR-V Hybrid. Happy motoring!!

    Previous Honda CR-V models were all over streets in my third world country (South Africa). Their prices (>R1 million) don’t make sense at all, the equivalent much capable Toyota Fortuner is still around R600k
