New DS No7 first look: The French EV you didn’t see coming?

#DSNo 7 #ElectricCars #EVReview #FrenchCars #LuxuryEV

When was the last time you actually saw a DS on the roadway? Precisely.

Well, DS Vehicles is hoping to alter that with the all-new DS No7. Sitting simply listed below the flagship No8, this is the model at the heart of DS's push to lure buyers far from the typical premium electrical SUVs– but with a lot more design and individuality.

In this video, Nicki takes you on a complete walkaround of the DS No7, exploring its vibrant new design, including the striking illuminated grille and ultra-slim lighting signature, in addition to a cabin that leans heavily into French high-end. Think massaging seats, a smart Neckwarmer system for added convenience and performance, and a lounge-like feel with high-end materials throughout.
Under the skin, the No7 looks simply as outstanding. With battery options up to 97kWh and a claimed variety of approximately 460 miles, it's aiming to be one of the longest-range automobiles in its class. Add in up to 350hp, quick charging and intelligent battery preconditioning, and it's clear DS is targeting serious rivals like the Audi Q4 e-tron and Tesla Model Y.

The big question is whether buyers are ready to take a chance on something a bit different, or if the No7 will remain a rare sight like lots of DS designs before it. Let us understand what you think in the comments, iis this a future hit or still too left-field?

As a fan of DS since the DS3 and DS5 over a decade ago, the interiors are always drop dead gorgeous, it’s just a shame that the exterior has always been too Cadillac-adjacent and the PR and Marketing forces behind DS always caught in the rock and hardplace of appealing to the bulk of demand for German premium brands and losing out to the snobbery of said brand tastes against DS (and even Citroen and Peugeot decades prior) pivoting to placate to those tastes, discarding its unique French namesake.

Interesting why Stelantis hasn’t bothered neither bring DS to the US, make a DS version of the Citroen C5X/Peugeot 408 or bothered investing back into hydropneumatic suspension as both a unique selling point and needed in more utilitarian uses for improving load carrying capacity which for EV vans and MPVs has become an important hurdle.

Nice car. It’s a shame that DS is not in the US.

That shift away from decorative design toward functional aero gains stood out. When lighting elements start contributing to efficiency, it’s a sign the engineering and design teams are finally speaking the same language.

I look, as a Peugeot owner with long fondness for French cars. Not seen one on the road up here, but did see one at my local petrol station, using the electric 200kw charger.

0:05 Literally yesterday. Cheers from Poland.
1:00 I’m more worried about when they want to make a smaller one. Like a No 1. Or a No 2.

Beautifully designed, and yeah the rear door opening might be a problem for some.

You buy wood panels. From Halfords?🤣 I know. You meant B+Q but were mesmerised by the cabin quality!

It’s nice but I never like when manufacturers maie the screens so wide because I’m a relatively short person so I can’t comfortable reach the screen I kind of have to reach over.
