Just not professional or scientific at all. As an ev the cla kind of destroys the byd just spend a bit more for the 250+ and it is not even a contest.

Nicola, during the Mercedes frunk testing 😂 did a little drop 😂try to escape because I know I nearly did with laughter 😂. It’s enjoyable when there’s 2 presenters and there’s a little bit guff been thrown around about each others car. Thank you both for an early Sunday morning smile.

I think I must be the only person who likes a toggle to operate the rear windows from the driver’s seat. No more embarrassingly opening the window behind me when pulling up to a tollbooth or car park ticket machine.

I also think both the interior and exterior of the Mercedes look *way* better than the BYD, but those obvious. cheap details in the Mercedes interior are a pity.

We have a VW ID3. It’s not half as annoying as you’d imagine. You actually rarely open the back windows from the driver’s seat

Yea i don’t mind it either. Every reviewer mentions it as a cut cost. But maybe it was a design choice to have less clutter on the doors.

@yannickputtemans And they forget…hold and press the rear button…to open all 4 windows at once.
This is the only time I even open the rear windows…to release heat in Summer.

@yannickputtemansno they only hate it on german cars. On the volvos that did the same they glossed over it. They have double standards. Which is why i generally skip their videos.

Very annoying. Especially on cold wet winter mornings when looking back and left at junctions. I open the window to clear the ,moisture – but it takes far too long – at a time when it needs to be quick. Not just 2 buttons rather than 1 but fiddley as well.

What surprised me about Chinese cars (G6, X, Seal, Sea lion 7) is that they have microphones at the 4 window seats, each person can use voice commands in natural language to make requests. It nice to see the range increasing in 2026 to almost 500 miles, I’m curious how much further they will go in 2030.

Yeah, mercedes only has that on the more expensive vehicles intended for chauffeuring.

EU cars are made with the expectation the kids are in the back so you don’t want them to make commands

The entry level CLA might have identical price to the Seal, but it comes completely naked of equipment. Put similar equipment in the CLA as the Seal and the price sky rockets.
And don’t forget a very important point, the battery chemistry. The BYD LFP blade battery is much safer (fire resistant to high damage and perforation) and can be charged frequently to 100%, while the CLA NMC needs 80% charging for everyday use to avoid degradation.
I’m all in for the Seal… when it get the new blade battery 2.0 with faster charging.

    1. @Astke Avatar
      @Astke

Ahy yes the clueless comment from a BYD fan. Have you ever seen actual road trip stress tests of the byd? Instead of vibe based reviews like this channel does? It is either with a too cold battery or it overheats because the temperatures of the cells in the pack are too far apart due to a cooling system design flaw. So you’ll rarely see the actual claimed charging speeds. If is inefficient for a sedan, the infotainment is a complete mess, the assist systems are kind of bottom tier…. Oh and i drove it.. The acceleration pedal has the biggest delay i have ever felt.

Stop claiming stuff based on hype marketing. Please. The mercedes is a much more grown up product. And no i don’t like the CLA either. But come on.

The BYD is fine if you don’t know better. That is it

If you look at the interior shots, by far the byd looks a lot more luxurious and well designed, the merc looks super cheap in the back and that screen feels like an afterthought

I sat in the cla at a showroom, for about 15 mins, two of us just sitting there, and after about 10 mins of playing with all the screens and faffing about, just to get a real feeling of it, we both had the same impression. It feels a really unfriendly environment, it’s just this huge black slab of plastic, which is nearly vertical, with a steering wheel sticking out. There is no design throught, there is no flow, there is no “ahhh” feeling, which a Merc badge should give you. It’s just black plastic all the way across the dash.

I’m forever opening the rear windows when I want to open the front, how often do you want to open the rear from the front seats? I would much prefer the two button option. Perhaps it’s not about cost cutting?

The Ioniq 6 should have been a part of this test. After all, it’s a big, fast charging saloon with either rear or all wheel drive. Plenty of space and equipment, including 800v architecture and a heat pump. Even in cold weather I was achieving over 4M/kWh. Plus there’s an updated version coming soon
