I’ve had a lovely little Renault Zoe for four years. Great little car for my main use of a car!! It’s enjoyable to drive, comfortable and practical.

Most people don’t fill the petrol or diesel tank of their cars. It costs too much these days, and only is needed for once in a blue moon. I had an old diesel but hadn’t used it for a long journey in many a year. I prefer to use my e-E208 even for longer trips these days. The quiet is stunning. Especially compared to my old diesel….

GLAD to see the most used, essential buttons return. Truth be told, using only a touchscreen got real old, real fast, with my previous M3.

Yes Tom, bring on the smaller tyres. Better range and more comfort, we don’t need 22 inch wheels!

Update from “Mystery Shopper” firstly thank you Mike for pronouncing my surname correctly, most people don’t!
Following your suggestion last week I test drove the Ariya, loved it. But… when talking numbers it became apparent the shocking depreciation – not sure if this is an issue specific to Megane E-Tech or all EV’s? I paid £42000 in January 2023, the best they could offer me was £18000, just 14 months and less than 5000 miles later. Even the local Renault dealer doesn’t want to buy it off me, they have too many! We Buy Any Car gives the best valuation of £20000. So… I’ve had to come up with Plan B, which is keep the Megane until the end of the PCP in January 2026, so that if the values are still bad I can just hand the car back, then I’ll pick the car that will hopefully last for ages, or if the Megane is still problem free by then I might take a gamble and run that until it dies! Thank you for your advice though. Mystery!

Yes, I have a 2017 Model S with free supercharging. I also have an adapter from Tesla to be able to use CCS and also one for Chademo. So no limits on charging, actually more flexible then others.

Perhaps it’s just me but I think that the format with only two presenters works very well. It’s a bit like sitting at a table and two of your friends are chatting about something that interests you and you are just listening and nodding every now and then instead of the batting the “ball” about to get everyone involved.

    Well done boys
Finally they have noticed that no buttons is dangerous to use.
I too found on last long trip that there are so many charging options it is not necessary to plan to nth degree any more. Get as far are you bladder and press the button on the google maps in the car and at least 5 to choose from that would have worked. Now if we could only get Rapid charging price sensible !

Great job, interesting to hear the devious methods used to get the EV range. My Kia E Niro keeps offering me 260-270 miles on mixed journies now the sun has started to shine again. This is almost 3 years old and that is meeting the WLTP range claimed for this car.
Never ever had an ICE car get near the claimed MPG figures.

My e-Niro was one of the first off the boat here in France back in 2019, it will be 5 years old on Friday so will be doing my annual review of it on my channel (Kia e-Niro Diaries Encore).. Now at 97,000 km and in summer with local driving I am still seeing well over 500 km of range…450 km on the autoroute is summer real world experience.

Oh wow Citroën Ami Careé owner here. Remember me? I loved seeing that Postman Pat lives in Weymouth. Wow. That’s my nearest beach and go there a lot. Lovely place especially since the Olympics sailing money. My tyres are 14” I think so I’m already teeny tiny. 😂 loved your chat about MG brand and “L” or “IM” sizes.

After owning EV’s since 2019 we had our first long road trip in our 2020 FE Soul. We had a week away leaving East Sussex, down to Cornwall stayed 2 nights, then Torquay for 1 night and finished at Weymouth for 1 night before heading home. Penzance was nice with a long term free overnight car park with a load of fast charge points (Swarco) close to the hotel so 100% when we set off sight seeing around Cornwall. We had no issues around SW England finding charge points either.
So i think 250 miles range is more than enough for me, we need more destination charge points at hotels and Mike we picked the windiest day to visit Weymouth, I feel sandblasted 😂

    Nice episode.
The tyre comment at 25:00 fits in with other bits of “scare stories” relating to EVs that I have heard from other people when they go to visit their local dealerships and express an interest in buying an EV. My own experience when I was looking at buying an EV was that the dealerships which sell both ICE and EVs seemed to want to push me away from the EVs.
Are dealerships terrified at their sustainability without the substantial income generated by regular service/repair costs for ICE cars?
Is their a growing conflict between manufacturers and dealers with the increasing ZEV mandate penalties?

We own a Fisker Ocean and we love the design and the way it drives. Build quality is comparable with our Volvo XC40, it rides surprisingly well on the huge 22” wheels. A few software issues to fix, which should be resolved in the long awaited V2 software update. All in all, a really well put together SUV, we hope Fisker can make it through the tough times🤞👏🥰

A few weeks ago I hired a Hyundai i10 in Ireland and was surprised when it had all the bells and whistles on it. Unfortunately the speed limit detection was appalling and generally gave a suggestion above the speed limit – 128kph rather than 100 was a little odd. Ireland does use a narrower font and has the kmh underneath the number which might not have helped. My previous car (in the UK) was Skoda Kamiq and the system had issues including seemingly switching from mph to kph with no warning. A software update fixed that, but it wasn’t great.
EuroNCAP will need to be testing speed limit detection against standard signs from a range of different countries that the cars will be sold and driven in.

Great show guys! Thank you. You said who is gonna be back next week? Glen and Nick? Here in the States with such a focus on the reduction of distracted driving i.e. cell phones (as there should be), I find it odd that some car manufacturers willfully add driving distraction by what amounts to turning your car’s information system and cabin controls into an iPad or tablet which from time to time one needs to access while driving. I agree with the Euro NCAP (or NHTSA) move to adjust ratings based on the level of driver distraction needed to operated the car. Touch screen vs. voice vs. buttons

Good to hear the comments about tyres, my I-Pace has 20″ wheels and will be needing a new pair on the front soon having covered over 33000 miles. The rears are fine for a long way yet.
Weymouth! One of our favourite places to visit, we had a day trip there from home just north of Portsmouth a few weeks ago, just for a nice drive and to mooch around the quay etc. Oddly the car didn’t catch fire or need a new battery after 50 miles. Charger availability? There seemed to be lots around but I honestly don’t know if they were all broken or not as I didn’t need a charge and got back home with 70 miles left.
