“Hello and welcome to the kilowatt half hour. We claim a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes, but really we need a bit longer.”

With newer EVs it’s actually less than 30 minutes. They even mentioned the fact that there was an EV that charge to 80% in 18 minutes.

@@Dubnoreix I do think he/she was hinting at the “half hour podcast” often use slightly more than the promised 30 minutes to recharge us all with their weekly dump of information. I forgive them as I feel 100% recharged after the podcast (and we all know that the charge rates usually drops significantly above 70-80%) 🙂

Our Ioniq 5 is too fast really. If we plug it in at a suitable charger at say 25% SOC, then it’ll be at 80% in about 12 minutes, which isn’t enough time to have a comfort break and order a coffee.

We tend to use O2A Tesla Superchargers, as the charge rate is limited to 98kW, so giving more time to take a break, while saving a few quid in the process.
We only need to rapid charge a few times a year, as the full battery is good for 240 miles or more in the summer.

My Megane Etech has 4 levels of regen, with paddles on the steering wheel. Level 4 is almost 1 pedal driving. Brake lights only come on with level 3 and 4 regen braking.

Thank you for another great KWHH.

The three EV garage is something we are working towards. We need one for towing and mild off road, a run about for my wife, and something to support my later life crisis. It sort of looks as if the Summit spec Smart #5 could replace our Discovery Sport. My wife has her heart set on the Renault 5, probably small battery version. My crisis is most likely solved by a Smart #1 Brabus, preferably two toned but maybe not red as I would then need the chest wig.

No idea if these are things I’m remembering or new ideas:
Weekly page from the electric car encyclopedia.
Weekly lesson on electric cars from the automotive curriculum.
Weekly episode from the box set of electric cars (and feel free to go and binge on old episodes).
Weekly snack from the smorgasbord of electric cars.
Weekly stroll through the botanic gardens of electric cars.
Weekly swim (or paddle) through the ocean of electric cars.
Weekly jaunt through the galaxy of electric cars.
Weekly ride from the theme park of electric cars.

Some of those are better than others.

3 car garage is a difficult one partially because of the underrepresented car classes in EVs, but for me:

Daily: 2019ish Hyundai Kona Premium SE
    Road Trip: BMW i4 M50
    Weekend: Abarth 500e C

Thanks KHH team, like always, lots of info and fun.
What I have a hard time to understand, is that people make such a bing “thing” about charging.
We did a 2000km trip from Netherlands to Austria and back in a Dongfeng Box 40kWh LFP battery.
Every 2.5 hors we like to stretch our legs and have some food/drink anyway, so we took the Tesla superchargers that mostly are placed along a restaurant.
After 500km, 5,5 hours drive + 2 x 30 minutes food/drink/toilet, we stopped halfway at a hotel that has EV charging for guests for €10 (incl free parking).
Next day again 500km and 2 EV charging stops with coffee/toilet and apple pie when we arrived in Austria.
Relaxed trip thru the Alps (the Box is an extreme efficient and comfortable EV, also in the mountains)
For us, EV charging is happy time. Most of the times it is even to fast . . . . .have to hurry to order and get the food in, within that 30 min.. 😁😁

My 3 EV garage would be flled with the:
    1. Citroën OLI.
    2. MG Cyberster
    3. Tesla Model S Dual Motor.

Presumably Ginny would have the Enyaq for the family, Enyaq coupe for the weekend, and the Elroq for nipping to the shops?!
Where she would buy a smaller drinks bottle!

My imaginary three car garage would be-

First the Hyundai INSTER with an opening sun roof as a daily run-around as its dinky on the outside but TARDIS like on the inside.
Next the Porsche Boxster EV convertible for a bit of wind in my hair weekend fun, I know the Boxster wont be available until later in the year but as my imaginary garage isn’t built yet that will leave me time to get planning permission and find a builder.

Finally would be the Rolls-Royce Spectre for the long haul down to the French riviera, but as this is imaginary (unless I miraculously win the lottery) I wonder if Rolls-Royce would be open to building a convertible for cruising round Monaco.

As always another great episode of the Kilowatt half hour ish.
