In between these heavyweight subjects, we also speak about and trucks. A lot. Probably an unhealthy amount to be honest.

And when we do discuss vehicles, we find out a lot. From industry chatter to the more mundane functionalities of electric automobile ownership, it's the place where we dish the dirt on the cars we have actually been driving and deliver our own decisions on the current electric car . We also like to have an excellent make fun of the daftest little bits of anti-electric that we have actually seen in journalism.

We can't guarantee that you'll find out much. You most likely will not. However if you fancy thirty minutes of idle chat and gossip about the world of electric vehicles, we're here for you. If you like it/ dislike it/ believe it's too long or too short, let us know.

If gov’t are going to tinker with EV legislation, and want to promote uptake, they should reassess the ‘luxury’ tax threshold. £40k is not a luxury car. What is the ‘luxury’ level is open to discussion, but surely we should be in the range of £60-70k

Perhaps they should relabel it instead to the oversize vehicle tax which applies to anything over 2 tonnes or longer than 4.5 meters. They’d still have the same ballpark revenue collection then without the subjective luxury question. You could say owning any car is a luxury

What’s the average new car price in the UK? Likely over 40k, like in the US.

@@jamesengland7461 the Rolls Royce boat tail will cost you ~30 million, the median price will be quite high as a result

The Renault 5 has to be yellow with a white roof! Thanks for another great podcast, I always look forward to it.

Reference the odd battery situation with the Puma. My guess is that Ford have built in some reserve capacity, to help eliminate range loss through battery degradation. If the vehicle is starting with 25% extra capacity, then it has to drop a lot before
    A: the owner notices.
B: Ford will be on the hook for a warranty replacement.

Tesla design attitude reminds me of those meal prep bros. Apparently eating the same thing everyday is the peak of alpha behaviour. 😂

Ginny’s R5 has to be an Iconic five in Pop Yellow with a Black roof and a fun roof decal!

Love the R5 in green with a black roof. Especially as most people will go for Yellow or Blue

I think Ford putting a big buffer on their battery is a good idea. I presume that means charging to 100% is perfectly safe for the battery as well as being fast and degradation over time will appear minimal.

This warm weather is a real bonus on the efficiency.
I have had a ‘realtively’ high mileage week by my standards taking the kids on day trips during the holidays. Average efficiency over the last 400 miles is 4.5 mi per kWh which for the 2+ tonne whale that is the VW ID7 is pretty good expecially given a large portion of the journies were 60-70 mph !

I’m going to hazard a guess that Electrifying umbrellas are just the right size to fit into an Enyaq’s door storage?

To me the Hybrid really has not made sense for a long time with so many pure electric cars with such good ranges and a reasonable infrastructure for charging.

Long time? Try 5 years or less. To me, it does make sense to build the current generation of hybrids, but it won’t make sense to build very many after this product cycle, except for the larger vans and American trucks for serious hauling and travel.

With regard to Tesla ‘s design and product cycle philosophy, you’re literally arguing for planned obscelescence rather than what Tesla should call planned sustainability; that is, they fundamentally improve the innards that matter while maintaining an uncomplicated and enduring and modest style, improving aero efficiency the whole time.

    Fascism, however, is still abominable.

Renault definitely dropped a significant ball or two with the R5
One was the lumbar and heated seats only available in the Iconic (top) trim – as referenced in this podcast.

The other was that you can ONLY choose the yellow interior on the top trim (iconic) which doesn’t really go with all the colour combinations
