      With respect to EV’s they have left the West behind. It goes to show what a country can do when it’s politicians aren’t being lobbied by oil companies to supress new technology that competes with them, and their media isn’t hooked on anti EV headlines.

      4 HOURS to fully charge, and it might take longer?
      The reviewer said if you can find a 144 KW maximum speed charging station that is working, worst case scenario (10% charge in 39 minutes) so 4 HOURS to fully charge, and it might take longer?
      You will have a lot of time to look at your stationary MG whilst it sedately charges. Maybe find a hotel room nearby and take the Mrs for a quick “rest”.

    3. @olliewebbuk Avatar
      @olliewebbuk

      @@harrydestaffano565 How often do you need a full charge? Anyone who has seriously run an EV for any length of time knows that’s not the fastest way to get from A to B. Even my MG4 XPOWER I generally only ever stop for 10 mins max on long journeys. Usually by the time I’ve walked in for a pee/coffee it’s already got more charge in it than I need.

      Could be slower than 10% if the charging station is broken.
      10% means 4 hours to full charge.
      The Charger in the whatcar MG vidoe was working at about 70% so it would take 90 minutes to 2 hours to full charge at that speed.
      Alternatively a gas powered car would take around 5 minutes to completely fill its petrol tank.

    Nice car but tricky sell imo. I’m an EV fan, but if this was my second, “play” car (not that I can afford that) I’d go probably EV for the day to day drudge workhorse (plus bit of long-term penny and planet saving) and petrol for the frivolous weekend fun.

    1. @zakelwe Avatar
      @zakelwe

      I think that is a good point. Soon getting an Enqaq, but that is my reliable A to be car and load lugger. The 14 old MX5 will be for winding down B roads on a sunny day to the pub in a “spirited ” manner still.

      I really do not need 500bhp for that, prefer the small size and steering feel even if slower of the MX5.

    2. @denalisiomontpellier4064 Avatar
      @denalisiomontpellier4064

      That’s what I think also. Spacious 4×4 ev for everyday use, funny 2+2 sportcar (possibly manual and awd) for the weekend. I’m moving to Canada from south Europe, so I guess I’ll need an awd vehicle, first or secondo car, regardless. But I guess the story is the same in rainy countries like UK.

    Clearly a different experience with no engine noise but I can imagine roof down that could be quite enjoyable. Why people bought diesel roadsters so they could listen to a truck engine rattle along roof down I have no idea. Weighs about the same as a Jag F type of equivalent power, for comparison – and they’ve copied that interior handle from the F type also.

    Nice to see they didn’t go with the yoke that was in the pre-production models or the comically large MG badge on the nose. I pointed both of these things out to the car’s designer at Goodwood a while back. Didn’t realise at the time that’s who he was else I probably would have been a tad less blunt with him when we were discussing the car. I think the production model is quite an improvement frankly. Only trouble is you’d have to be slightly bonkers to pick this over a boxster, especially as this will be worth nothing the second you drive it off the forecourt, unlike the Porsche
