2026 BYD Atto 3 Evo driven! Real upgrade or just a facelift in disguise?

Sign up with Nicola for the first drive of the updated 2026 BYD Atto 3 Evo, the car that originally launched BYD in the UK back in 2023– but now returns with a long list of upgrades under the skin.

At first glance it might look familiar, however BYD says this isn't just a refresh. There's a larger battery, new 800-volt architecture, faster charging, more power, revised suspension and upgraded tech targeted at making the Atto 3 more competitive than ever in the electrical SUV market.

Inside, you'll find a smarter infotainment system with Google combination, improved products, extra storage and even a larger boot and frunk. However does it actually feel new to drive? And have the modifications made it much better– or simply … different?

In this video Nicola supports the wheel in Madrid to discover what's changed, how it drives, whether the new efficiency makes sense for a family SUV, and if the Atto 3 Evo should have another appearance in a really congested EV segment.

Very good Spanish – made me giggle – that’s the level I had 30 years ago.

Love Nicola’s reviews. The car needs to be much cheaper though, BYD could be making a big impact on the market selling these for £30k and still make money I’m sure.

Would be nice but not going to happen with Kia starting above £32k.

Yes, byd has lost their mind. Now atto2 cost 37k €, instead of 32 year ago. Thats id3, model 3, ev3 price (wow, lots of 3ees)

Nice car, quite an improvement on the original, pricey though. We’ve seen another side to Nicola though, don’t make her angry! 😂

You know what would make your reviews even better? If you could put range and such in both miles and kilometers. Thank you!

it’s a UK channel that would mean they would have to put prices in dollars or euros aswell. just Google the conversion far easier😊

They could simply put the metric numbers on screen – I love the channel and especially Nicola as a host so I hope it’s not a UK “only” channel 😅

I have an Atto 3, I really like it. These changes make it better as mine doesn’t have a frunk or heated steering wheel, so I look forward to seeing what’s available in 2028 when my PCP come to an end, unless of course BYD are prepared to make an offer in the mean time.

Does it have a rout planner that is able to plan with charging stops and update live depending on consumption. If so, is it easy to use and does it work well(reliable)?
