So instead of paying £51,000 upwards…. Why NOT buy a VW Passat from £35,000?
So until VW can sort out their iD products at the ICE prices, it is a hard and definite NO from me.

It’s overpiced and you don’t even get a heat pump as standard.

Question 1 real world range 382 miles ? Question 2 in 2 years times with the collapse in the EV market could afford this? Question any up dates on the Tyres £800+vat VW handling £1000 surprises at service intervals. Until then i will drive my 2012 TDI. 😢

@MarvinofMars  In so many ways the iD7 misses the mark. Like the iD Buzz it will be discounted and leased at a fraction of its £50k+ price.

VW are currently behind in the ZEV mandate % so expect this and others to get a major discount. It’s a much more compelling offer with a £10k price trim…

@@ma40 If the iD Buzz dropped from £1,000/mth to £399…. Imagine what they can do with an iD7 once they have to move units!

I just find the VW electric offerings have a real cheap look about them to me and a few others at least. The exteriors look cheap and the interior isn’t the best in person especially when keeping the prices in mind. This one’s a bit better internally at least but it doesn’t scream top end

Looks far better in the tourer form, but definitely a massive improvement on the legacy ID cars from 2020-2023.

Their best EV, quite possibly. However, who’s going to buy them at £60k plus? They’ll be discounting them massively for fleets and will sell tiny volumes to private buyers gullible enough to get one. Whilst I think it’s a nice EV, these will be 50% off within 18 months. Worth £40k at the most.

Mad prices in the UK… The first edition (touring) id7 is currently available for £49k here in Sweden! And that’s with all the bells and will😮 A heat pump comes as standard here too

Surely as a hatchback you should be comparing with the Model Y not the Model 3?

Fair review and great car, the best out there at the moment imo! However, why compare to the smaller M3 and much smaller I4? It’s like comparing a Passat to a Golf size car…be fair in terms of size and compare to BMW i5, Mercedes EQE or Tesla Model S.

Also, the pricing seems to be quite different in the UK compared to continental Europe where the i4 usually is significantly more expensive and the M3LR is just very slightly less expensive…

Only reason to buy this for the comfortable adult size rear seating, which is rare for an EV. Otherwise a complete waste of resources.

It may be VWs best EV but it its still stuck with a lot of the baked in design decisions that both VW and other manufacturers now acknowledge make no sense. The lack of physical controls are an issue for safety and usability, particularly when your software isn’t very good. For me though, the design of the exterior is just as weird as it is on other IDs. The strange, blobby shape is awkward (although not as bad as the 5) and also almost completely forgettable. Who is this car for at that price ? – there is nothing on this car that would make me want to buy it. It would probably make a great Uber though due to that rear legroom.

Far too many new cars fitted with large screens. Doesn’t seem much different to texting on a mobile phone.
At £51000 I can’t see many private individuals queuing outside VW dealers waiting to sign up for one.
Secondhand values of these will fall through the floor.
Are no manufacturers making estate cars these days ? Not everyone wants an SUV.

I just can’t see how electric cars make much sense over combustion engines with the huge depreciations they suffer plus the high repair costs in case of an accident, not to mention the insane batteries replacement costs.

After the miserable fiasco of ID. 3 VW finally managed to pull itself together and produce a worthwhile electric car but IONIQ 6 still beats it.
