I drove a Jimny with £40,000 worth of mods!

Thanks to for providing us their Jimny:

Fulfill the wildest Suzuki Jimny worldwide!

The group at Automotive have gone to town on this little Suzuki Jimny, and Mat's about to see if he needs to include the same modifications to his own Jimny!

To start, let's take a peek under the bonnet. This Jimny keeps the exact same 1.5-litre petrol engine, but it's had a turbocharger added to it. As a result, the power increase has been improved from 101hp to 165hp! The torque has likewise increased, raising from 130Nm to around 200Nm.

There have actually also been a number of chassis upgrades included, including some Bilstein dampers and an anti-roll bar at the back. The automobile has actually likewise been lifted by 2-inches, together with having some chunky all-terrain tyres included.

When it pertains to the design, there are a few minor modifications, including the adding of decals and the bumper being painted to match the body colour. In either case, it's still unmistakably a Jimny!

But once you step within, there are a number of correctly noteworthy upgrades! For starters, there's loads of leather added throughout the seats and along the dash, which is in an actually smart black & brown two-tone result. There's been Alcantara contributed to the roof also, to provide it that real mini G63 sensation!

However, there are a number of problems. For one, this is constructed on the van variation, so there are no rear seats! And since of this, an after market infotainment system has had to be added, and it does not come with Apple CarPlay or Android Automobile!

So what do you believe, is this Jimny worth the ₤ 60,000 cost?! Or does the standard Jimny still reign supreme? You'll require to stick to Mat and see on your own!

60% more power and 1 second improvement in 0-60 tells me that 165hp is something imaginary rather than reality

Spending 60K on a Jimny is insane 😅

If it’s any consolation, Americans are spending about that much on a certain trim of Toyota Corolla. Mainly because dealer markups.

Insanely cheap, a Jimny deserves at least £1 million spent on it. It’s a good dog.

I seriously adore this car so much, not only it’s really good on off-roading but it’s kinda really respectable and decent in terms of its own value of money, and yes, I’m talking about the original Jimny but spending alot of cash on this little Turbo Jimny is insane considering its cash, I’m glad in some Asia countries alot of people are enjoying it, I definitely would love to see an off-road video or a drag race video of this little thing.

My Jimmy’s amazing and it’s not my first. So far, on two of them, I’ve spent a total of £9000 purchasing them. They’re both the previous version. So, that leaves £110,000 to modify them at these prices…. There’s a wonderful aftermarket for modding and improving the older Jimny. I’m going to stick with mine. As I don’t have all the extra dosh, I’ll just have to put up with having the best (and the cheapest) 4×4 on the market as it is 😅

Not only does it have more power the car also looks great. There’s something about the Jimny that I always look for when I see one on the street. The only thing missing from the car in the video is the aggressive green paintwork that many Jimnys have. Great video!

The Twisted Jimny handled better than Regular Jimny although still handled like a muscle car.

I would have the turbo kit n the suspension kit. Forget the interior upgrade n full off road tyres n save a bundle

You should compare both Jimny’s during an offroad test! Should be epic! And put the twisted version against the G-wagon.

    1. Purwanti Allan Avatar
      Purwanti Allan

Add also 2002 Ford Focus RS WRC to compare against both Jimnys.

For you, probably worth getting the turbo and the suspension upgrades.

  11. Bigguy205 Avatar
    Bigguy205

Getting the turbo fitted to have the 165HP, not changing the suspension (so you retain the onroad comfort level of your car) and upgrading the interior with two-tone leather, Alcantara headliner & additional sound insulation seems like the way to go.

    1. Purwanti Allan Avatar

Well the Jimny 165bhp alone cant even match against Renault Alpine A110 1600S.

@Purwanti AllanAnd? How is that relevant at all? Are you seriously comparing an offroad suv to a small sports car? I see you in every carwow video and your comments are always so weird.

i would love to see an off-road test between the 2. Im pretty sure the twisted would win but would love to see how close it actually is (maybe you should get some allterain tires for your jimney to make it fair)

@Purwanti Allanhow can a focus RS compete in a off-road test with these cars? It’s more a sports car/rally car not a off roader like these

Yours looks much better (inside and out) Mat but the turbo and suspension mods would make a huge difference.

  14. Thomas Gonzalez Stepke Avatar
    Thomas Gonzalez Stepke

Mat, get the turbo in yours at least, the improve in acceleration is pretty good for that small All terrain, and just add some stiffer anti roll bars, I think that should be worth it 😅

Hi Mat, love your videos, especially the drag races! Why not take a piecemeal approach – start with just the Bilstein/Eibach suspension and see how the car feels on and off road, still with the standard wheels. This year I did exactly that on my Mk1 Skoda Fabia VRS and it absolutely transformed its road behaviour. Still leaves you the option of the anti roll bar and 2″ lift at a later date.

I’d love to do this but keep the outside completely standard looking, so cool

  18. Mr Filax Avatar
    Mr Filax

I’d go for the engine upgrades, springs dampers and rollbars but I’d have two sets of wheels. One for onroad for daily use and one for offroad when I occasionally have to do some work

    Madison, single again

Your stock Jimny looks good and from what you say drives very well already. No need for the suspension changes or those off road tires that would affect yours as daily driver unless you plan on venturing off of pavement as part of your plans for your car. So the only mod I would say right now is the turbo to give you some more ooomph! Maybe a larger one with more boost capability!

    Si G

I think like you said if you have the money and it doesn’t spend more time in the mud than on the road, I would have all the mods done cause I do love the Jimny there such cool little jeeps, have to say that twisted version is epic 👌👍
