The Polestar 4 Is The EV “SUV” Answer To The BMW 5-Series And Tesla Model S

Hot off the heels of the Polestar 3 comes the 2025 Polestar 4. In spite of being more 5-Series/Model S sized, Polestar is calling this an efficiency "coupe" SUV. Call it what you want, however in either case this is the most style forward and efficiency oriented Polestar yet. The double motor design will sport 544 horsepower with more to come in future performance variations while the single motor design will be around 270 HP and RWD. Variety ought to be around 300 EPA miles thanks to a fairly large 102 kWh battery pack while pricing will be more Model Y than Design S. The only disappointment? At the moment it won't be integrated in the U.S.A., however who understands, that may change by 2025.

This is based on the Zeekr 001 which I wish will come to and be built in the US. I have a feeling it won’t since the Polestar 4 is coming and it starts 10K more than the Zeekr and would probably lose sales to the better value of the Zeekr. Especially with those electronically closing doors and Standard Nappa leather. I so wish the Zeekr comes to the US!

I actually love the design. Very unique but cool and sleek. I’ve heard the reasoning behind the no rear glass (making the panoramic larger and more headroom), but we all know electronics fail, if the camera goes out you’d be backing up blind basically (side mirrors not nearly as helpful), tho I’d imagine there has to be some redundancy to I figure that. Honestly opinion is I love it, and it will definitely be on my short list

It’s like backing a cargo van. People have been doing it for decades.

Love the squared off back end and the styling in general.

I’m a car guy and have a Polstar 2, Ram diesel 1500, BMW M4 and old Lexus Sc430. I really like my Polstar 2 for around town or as long as I home charge . It’s rocket fast and zips in and out traffic .

Basically, this car is a departure for Polestar. The other Polestars are based on Volvos. This one is a not so subtle reskin of the Zeekr001. Look inside the Zeekr and you’ll find a similar shape to the dash, the seats are from the Zeekr, the buttons, and a lot of the platform specifics are straight from the Zeekr. This is un-Polestar like up to now. The cars had seats and mechanicals and everything else shared with Volvo and no other vehicle in the Geely Group umbrella. I know that the Zeekr is designed in Sweden but don’t know much else about it. It seems to be highly rated. But I would pause on this one to find out more if interested in this car since it isn’t Volvo based.

3:36 Reminds me of the Jaguar I-pace in the “is it a crossover? Is it a wagon? Or shooting brake? Or coupe? Sportback?” kinda way.

Love everything about the looks. Love that the screen is horizontal, not a huge fan of the vertical screens. I do agree that the one large vent below the screen is odd. The rear view out of the Polestar 2 is quite bad so could also use that camera, which I hope comes with a cleaner, especially as it’s your only way to see out the back.

Would like to see how much of a difference this looks to the P2 meaning is larger and more trunk space?

Love the design language but I am curious if the lack of a rear window makes it legal for the US market?

Some delivery vans don’t have a rear window or a rear facing camera and they’re legal in the US. But they may be in a different class/category.

Design is terrific. I would settle for a VW id3GT though.

I love the styling of the polestars but man they’re so expensive. Also, the no rear window is too weird. I’m not a fan of cameras being the primary method of visability.

I really love the design (inside and outside), one of the best looking EV’s for me, and the range and performance are great, and Google multimedia system is one of the best of the market. Only downside for me is that it’s a bit too big for our European roads and car parks… I would certainly consider it as a replacement for my I-Pace… but have an EV6 GT on order so I don’t know yet…

Love it. Though it’s probably gonna be out of my price range but I think it’s a great design.

Polestar is taking the niche that SAAB had but with a wider range of choice. Even the CEO has said that. The Chinese connection means money but they do not seem to be all that good at strategy, Geely spits out new brands every so often that gets a few models. Lynk has not fully taken off and then they introduce Zeekr

I wouldn’t be surprised that within the next 2 decades Volvo and Polestar will change ownership again, and probably independent as their sales and competitiveness has truly excelled compared to volvo under ford. Although I don’t see a push from volvo wanting to go independent as long as geely lets them do what they want.

In a world where everyone wants a crossover/SUV, Polestar seems to be focusing on car-like vehicles.

I’m really digging this design, inside and out. I dig the lifted sedan / hatch look it has going for it. Much more attractive than the 3 in my opinion. I hope I get the chance to sit in one sometime 😅

Hi Alex. The naming of these vehicles will cause confusion to potential buyers. I think the lack of a rear window is a fail.

Really attractive crossover, I would consider it to replace my A4 in a few years, but 300 miles range in RWD wit 100Kw battery? A similar concept (coupe/crossover midsized) Kia EV6 does much better with a 77Kw battery and it’s 3 years older in design.

It bugs me about the Ioniq 6 too. I’d have expected it to be an Ioniq 4 not 6.
