    I am heavily invested in my Toyota Prius! That baby just goes, and goes smoothly!

    Always remember folks: the best “investment” in terms of a car is the one that you use the longest. I plan to keep my Prius for another two decades. That is also environmentally best. As long as it is not a smoke belcher, buying a new car is putting more stress on the environment than continuing to run a functional car.

    As for having cars as investment instruments, that’s a game for the super-wealthy only.

    This is a BLATANT advert for Car Crowd but I’m not seeing any legal on-screen reference to it being so, either in the Video or description? Isn’t that illegal? I thought that hidden/secret/undercover adverts were illegal in the UK? If it’s sponsored or pure promotion it HAS to be stated at the start of the Video AND in the description!
    Carwow is itself an advert for Carwow the online car buyer and seller. But surely it shouldn’t ALSO be doing all this blatant advertising (pushing crappy scammy Chinese EVs, advertising other products in videos) that it is OBVIOUSLY also getting paid extremely well for AND taking money from YouTube for views/subscribers/view time etc. How greedy is Carwow as a company? Clearly extremely!

      They have cars in every video, often including VW group products, which are supplied by them, at considerable expense. But they don’t have ‘paid promotion’ showing. It is a grey area.

    Investing in cars… Cars are meant to be driven not locked away. It’s like people collecting unopened toys vs playing with them.

    1. @dalexa Avatar
      @dalexa

      Indeed. This is what’s wrong with some people, they ruined the classic cars market because they want to make a profit with them. There are people that have hundreds of cars parked just to sell them for twice the money they bought them. Meanwhile I want a 912 to restore and drive and can’t find one cheap. Even rust buckets cost almost the price of a regular new car.

      I wonder if people investing in the company featured in this advertisement video are even aware that they’re actively ruining the market

    3. @nicalev Avatar

      And the unopened toys will fetch more than the well used toys?

    4. @OfSheikah Avatar
      @OfSheikah

      It is an inevitable maintenance expense because until u literally sell it or liquidate it through non-sale means, its only worth how much its been valued at

      Now I am not saying cars are meant to not be driven, but I wish stocks are meant to be sold and bought not being kept. To those that literally keep it in spite to the market, sure. But finders keepers, how’s to shame everyine who just doesn’t drive the damn thing.

    5. @Lukestersim Avatar
      @Lukestersim

      I completely agree. all cars should be driven, however I do think its important to keep a couple of examples for historical purposes

    People who “invest” into cars (buy and speculate values of hard to get models) are the reason why no one can enjoy driving classics anymore.

    1. @tmcc03 Avatar
      @tmcc03

    Right mate, so we lock those cars forever because greedy people want to make money on them, and then what’s left to drive?

    1. @tmcc03 Avatar
      @tmcc03

      They’re not locked away forever.

      Those involved in the asset decide collectively whether to retain it or begin the sale process, so there’s always an exit strategy.

      And in reality, it’s usually a very small percentage of the very best examples that are preserved this way. The majority of classics remain privately owned and driven. The ones held are typically the best of the best, maintained properly and safeguarded for future generations rather than being neglected or lost.

      Matt claims they’re exempt from capital gains taxes because cars are classed as a wasting asset. Which is of course nonsense once you establish a deterministic investment fund and remove what makes a car “waste” (wear and tear). I would not bet against the tax man.
