Why I’d buy THIS over a new BMW

This is the brand-new Volvo XC60!

It's the Swedish brand's bread-and-butter family SUV, but with the BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, and Audi Q5 all getting current updates, can this refreshed Volvo still contend? Let's take a closer look …

In the beginning look, you 'd be forgiven for thinking very little has actually changed. Volvo has actually stayed with the "if it ain't broke" philosophy when it pertains to the outside style. There's a brand-new grille and some darker tinting on the taillights, however the lights and bumpers remain largely the very same. However, you can now spice things up with brand-new paint colours (like Mulberry Red), fresh wheel styles, and optional black exterior trim for a stealthier look. Most importantly, there's no cheap-looking plastic cladding here – it's premium through and through.

Step inside and it's a masterclass in refinement. It isn't attempting too hard to be futuristic; instead, you get gorgeous wood trim throughout the dash and centre console. It's packed with high-end, too, featuring heated, cooled, and even massaging seats. Product quality is top-notch throughout, from the dash to the door bins.

The big news is the infotainment. The main screen is now larger, sharper, and much quicker to respond than the old system. It's a massive enhancement!

If you're looking for a diesel, you're out of luck – just petrol and hybrid engines are on deal. What's more, every XC60 now comes with Four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automated transmission as requirement. In terms of the engine line-up:

* The Entry Level: A 2.0-litre turbo gas with 250hp.
* The Hybrid: Utilizes the very same engine paired with an electric motor for 350hp.
* The Range Topper: As Soon As again, a hybrid, but this time producing 455hp.

Rates for the brand-new XC60 start from around ₤ 49,000, rising to over ₤ 71,000 for the top-spec Ultra Black Edition. Should you purchase it, consider it, or prevent it completely? You'll need to view the complete video to discover!

Didn’t expect a Volvo SUV to hit 0–60 that quickly, that T8 powertrain is no joke

@SK1PP3R88 If it lasts as long as the older Volvos did, most owners will be pretty happy 😉

@Machines.In.Action It won’t. Cause the T8 has issues with the powertrain, especially with the electric motor at the back with catastrophic damage. SO no – Volvo is no Volvo anymore.

@SK1PP3R88 I doubt that. They have used the same drivetrain for many years and have fixed all of the problems.

They have used the same 2.0 liter 4 cylinder in these for the past 8 years which means that they have literally fixed every single problem.

When it comes to the hybrid stuff, things are pretty darn good too. They have used the same electric motor on the rear axle aka ERAD since 2022 and this motor hasn’t showed any problems with it. There’s no clutches no fail or no stupid design choices.

The hybrid battery also behaves how it should and there’s an 8 year warranty for it in case it fails. Nothing critical in the on board charger and inverters either.

As someone who has investigated this subject a lot, I can say that these T8 Volvos are the most refined plug-in hybrids out there. Hardware wise they are as good as you can hope.

Software issues have appeared and will appear but they will be fixed with an over-the-air update since Volvo uses Android Automotive OS. Because of it they also delivered that same user interface to the older models.

Get a Volvo if you want a well-refined and future proof premium vehicle. And damn it looks good!

I’ve ordered one up and was messaging the salesman as this popped up! This, along with the F-Pace that’s just ceased production, is the last chance to buy a premium and quality built car. The new generation cars are so cheap feeling.

Yeah we were recently looking for a used electric car and the german brands like the ID3 and cupra born just feel so cheap compared to other companies like the renault megane we went with.
